With the Modi government fastening up plans to take the growth and development of India up to the desired levels by 2025, it has identified the country’s priorities as enumerated
1. Economic Growth: The Government has firmed up plans for a growth rate of 6.5% to 7% of the GDP in fiscal year while remaining wary of infra spending and policy reforms that help boost the economy.
2. Controlling Inflation: In this budget, the efforts made have been in controlling inflation especially on the essentials so that the economy will be stabilized, and consumer interest is protected.
3. Employment Generation: Heavy investment plans are underway for generating employment mostly in the rural areas to reduce the unemployment level so that the incomes of people can increase.
4. Infrastructure Development: Investments towards better transport, energy, and urban infrastructure will align with the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
5. Digital India:
The state has improved the digital services within those sectors, like governance, education, and health, that have increased in accessibility and efficiency.
6. Defence Reforms: 2025 has been declared as the ‘Year of Defence Reforms’ with a focus on the modernization of the country’s armed forces in order to further enhance national security.
7. Foreign Policy Engagements: The country will also host major international summits, like the Quad leaders’ summit, to strengthen the country’s diplomacy and international engagement.
8. Privatization and Public Sector Overhaul: Little seriousness on aggressive privatization, but serious overhaul of state-owned units to make them profitable and efficient.
9. Support to Agriculture: Policies for the promotion of indigenous foodgrain production and support to the farming sector are being put in place to tackle inflation in food items to ensure availability of food.
10. Education Reforms: There are plans to upgrade educational infrastructure as well as access, especially in the rural areas, which is upgrading literacy and skill development.
11. Health Initiatives: The government has been on expansion of health care services, including health information technology that seeks to develop improved public health outcomes.
12. Environmental Sustainability: Focus has been on renewable sources of energy and sustainable practices as a step towards rejuvenation of the environment and altered climatic conditions.
13. Urban Renewal: The major projects which have been underway include such programs associated with lowering the traffic issues and improving quality life in public spaces.
14. Judicial Reforms: It will reform the judicial system as a step towards efficiency and delivering justice.
15. Media and Information: Responsible journalism will be promoted to counter the mischief of fake propaganda to inform citizenry.
16. Tax Reforms: The tax regime under the budget will see a change; this would somewhat ease the tax burden of the taxpayer, thereby also giving investment a push.
17. Small Enterprises: This scheme has provisions for micro, small, and medium enterprises with credit concessions and handholding to ensure growth and employment.
18. Women Empowerment: Policies relating to safety, rights, and participation of women in employment are being introduced.
19. Youth Development: Skill development and jobs providing opportunities are being strengthened so that demographic dividends can be exploited.
20. Rural Electrification: Efforts are in place for 100 per cent electrification of rural homes so that improved living and economic opportunities may be created.
21. Water Resource Management: It is in the direction of ‘clean drinking water’ and optimum management of water resources available for reducing the shortage of water.
22. Transportation Enhancements: Efforts are being made in the direction of road, rail, and air connectivity to promote trade and mobility.
23. Tourism Development: The government is promoting tourism through ‘infrastructure development and cultural initiatives’ to boost the economy.
24. Cultural Heritage: Efforts are being done for preserving and promoting India’s cultural heritage so that national identity is strengthened.
25. Disaster Management: Strengthening of disaster management systems should be enhanced so that every natural calamity can be coped with effectively and public safety would be ensured.
All efforts that prove this commitment of government in comprehensive development and respond well to the multitude of needs of the country from the start of the year to 2025.
