There was a time when India was Vishwaguru and Vishwamitra of the entire world and popular culture demonstrated India’s greatness in front of the World. Cultural practices like Yoga, and Hindu religion spread across the continent due to great spiritual leaders. But there was one difference. Unlike today, the ancient time leaders weren’t as fortunate as us to declare our eminence. We waited for others to garland us with this title.
India is super obsessed with its Vishwaguru conception that even if foreign global ranking shows adversarial results, we are determined to project ourselves to be the reputed nation that continues to guide the leading global heritage. Throughout the G20 summit, the Narendra Modi regime repeatedly pronounced India’s “Achhe Din” (Good Fortune) and Vishwaguru phrases.

Mother of Democracy and Vishwaguru
India is referred to as the ‘Mother of Democracy’ but Democracy Report 2024 opened the curtain as the V-Dem( Varieties of Democracy ) report projected the true picture, India as ‘one of the worst autocracies.’ In 2018, it was the first time India was labeled as an ‘electoral autocracy’ but we are determined to see ourselves at the top of every worsening list.
In 2024, we ranked top from the bottom 40%-50% among 179 countries by securing 104 on the Liberal Democratic Index ( LDI ). But our Vishwaguru leader Shri Narendra Damodar Das Modi didn’t appreciate such a picturization of his disciple who was supposed to follow his guided principles. But our Vishwaguru is clever enough to understand the probable agitation from his nation soon.
After cursing his disobedient disciples, Vishwaguru planned a masterstroke and gave himself full marks. It reminds us of the moment in our childhood when we used to fear our parents so much that lied to them about having letter marks and when they caught us we gave excuses that everyone in the class got bad marks. When the election was coming, Vishwaguru planned to create its democracy index and gave the responsibility to an obedient disciple namely, the ‘Observer Research Foundation (ORF)
But how much damage was controlled, the general election result in 2024 exhibited that.

Canadian Report and Democratic Threat
When India-Canada ties were at an all-time low, a report presented by a high-level Canadian parliamentary, shook the base of the Vishwaguru title, India possesses. A cross-party group of MP and Senator panels, namely the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians (NSICOP), have concluded that India has become the 2nd biggest threat to Canada’s democracy and wants foreign intervention in this critical circumstance. Unfortunately, it couldn’t rank better than China but replaced the regime of Russia.
It identified the third most dangerous threat as Russia, occupied by India in 2019. But we have a habit of ranking ourselves better in worse categories as mentioned before. So, this time India hit the milestone of 2nd biggest threat. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed his government and made sure to take this matter “very seriously”.
Last year Trudeau alleged the Indian government’s significant involvement in the killing of a Khalistani operative Hardeep Singh Nijjar near Vancouver. The charge was dismissed by New Delhi by phrasing it to be ‘absurd’. Till that point, India-Canada ties are in a low situation. No effort has been made from either side. The disobedient follower should not mind himself in the path of Vishwaguru.
The report was tabled in parliament this week but was submitted to the Prime Minister’s office in May itself. In this report, China has been described as “clearly the most prolific actor” vis a vis foreign interference in the Canadian democracy index and India as an “emerging actor”. So basically we are not only claiming autocracy to our country but India has gained respect regarding “threatening democracy” outside the country too.
The 84-page document report which mentioned India 44 times said India has “emerged as the second-most significant foreign interference threat to Canada’s democratic institutions and processes”, displacing Russia. India’s “foreign interference efforts have slowly increased” and extended beyond countering pro-Khalistan elements in Canada, it alleged.
It added: “While India’s foreign interference efforts have slowly increased, it became clear during the period of this review that its efforts had extended beyond countering what it perceived as pro-Khalistani efforts in Canada to include interfering in Canadian democratic processes and institutions, including through the targeting of Canadian politicians, ethnic media and Indo-Canadian ethnocultural communities.”
Vishwaguru Modi’s Reaction
Modi isn’t too bothered about these insubordinate disciples, he is currently confronting other issues in his country which is troubling him to be Vishwaguru again. Let him fight with those. Provisionally, there was no immediate response to the report from Indian officials. New Delhi has dismissed similar allegations in recent months and instead accused Canadian officials of interfering in matters within India. The Indian side has also contended that Canada is harboring Khalistani and other extremist elements and giving space to them to carry out anti-India activities.
