India will host the third voice of the Global South as part of its ongoing efforts to lead the developing world. The summit will be held on Saturday (August 17th)
Over the course of its first two editions the Voice of the Global South has become a platform for discussing the various issues of the developing countries and outlining strategies for resolving issues like conflict energy and food insecurity and climate change.
Over 100 developing countries participated in the first two editions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the inaugural, Voice of Global South Summit session according to the Ministry of External Affairs. The event will be attended by heads of state and government.
Theme of the global south summit
An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future is the theme of the summit according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This program aligns with India’s Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam or the idea the world is one family and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas aur Sabka Prayas.
Focus on sustainable development and addressing global issues
In keeping with this tradition, the third Voice of Global South Summit provides developing countries a forum to voice their concerns and collaborate on solutions. Sustainable development and tackling urgent global issues as a collective continue to be the key priorities.

G20 Summit
The agenda and discussions of the G-20 Summit which India presided over last year were shaped by suggestions and criticism from developing country leaders during the first two summits. The New Delhi Leaders Declaration took these contributions into consideration.
Earlier this year, during the G-7 Summit in Italy, to which India was extended a special invitation, PM Modi brought up the concerns of the Global South. He stated that India was still dedicated to bringing up the issues of the Global South, pointing out that the developing countries were negatively impacted by global upheavals and conflicts.
