Team India gets warm welcome:
The team arrived in New Delhi early in the morning and the fans welcomed the team with placards and the Indian flag.
Mumbai to host victory parade:
In the evening , the celebration parade of the team will be celebrated in the city of Mumbai followed bya trip to the Wankhede Stadium where the BCCI will raise them. The police departments of Mumbai have declared the shutdown of the roads and limited parking for the parade.
PM Modi meets Team India:
Earlier today, the team was formally received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who hosted the team for dinner. The team showboated the Prime Minister with a specially designed jersey which signalled their desire for a T20 World Cup triumph.
Surya celebrates with fans:
At the welcome dinner at the ITC Maurya Hotel, Suryakumar Yadav, the sensational batsman, was seen rejoicing at some of them including dancing to tunes of appreciating fans. The wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant of the winning team also took the considerations of the victory and bowed before the people, and the fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also blessed the people by flying kisses.
Rohit lifts trophy:
Sher, the shining trophy was with Captain Rohit Sharma who lifted it in front of the fans before getting into the bus. Notably, Virat Kohli, eventually, who retired from T20s after the World Cup, also took time to nod in appreciation before getting into the bus.
11-year drought ends:
The T20 World Cup triumph was the team’s first ICC trophy triumph since 2011, and the second T20 title for the side, after the success in 2007. Their earlier World Cup success was in 1983 One Day International and 2011 One Day International.
Join the celebrations:
The team’s open-top bus victory parade is expected to attract many people; fans are encouraged to be part of the celebrations. The BCCI has also said that they will be hosting a reception for the team and they will do this at the Wankhede Stadium.
