Indian mining tycoon Harpal Randhawa and his 22-year-old son Amer were two of the six individuals killed in an aircraft crash in Zimbabwe on September 29. Their private jet had a mechanical malfunction and crashed dangerously close to a diamond mine in southwest Zimbabwe.

He was the person in charge of RioZim, a fully owned Zimbabwean business that produces gold, coal, and refines nickel and copper.
The Cessna that departed from Harare, the nation’s capital and largest city, was going to the Murowa diamond mine, which is also a portion of the company’s ownership.
He started GEM Holdings in July 1993, and he was also the company’s chairman at the time. Private equity company GEM Holdings is currently valued at $4 billion. Ajay Bagga, the chairman of Elyments Platforms Private Limited, stated that Harpal had plans for a second business in India.
How did the Crash take place
Harpal Randhawa and his son were flying in a Cessna 206 that RioZim personally owned. When the incident occurred, they were traveling from Harare to the Murowa diamond mine. The Murowa Diamonds mine is partly owned by RioZim, The aircraft was single-engined. Onboard, both the crew and passengers died in the crash.
Just before crashing onto Peter Farm in the Zvamahande area, the aircraft had a mechanical issue that may have caused an explosion in midair. According to the report, the accident took the lives of every passenger and member of the crew.
According to reports, the white and red Zcam aircraft had crashed approximately 6 km from Mashava after taking off from Harare towards the mine at 6 am.
The British-Australian mining company RioZim, which was once a part of Rio Tinto, confirmed the incident and stated that it was working with the appropriate authorities to gather additional details.
Response to the billionaire’s death
Hopewell Chin’ono, a journalist and director, stated he is “deeply saddened” by Randhawa’s demise. He commented stating that Despite being a wealthy man, he was quite humble and gave out much life advice. Chin’ono also added that Randhawa had introduced him to a lot of individuals in the political, diplomatic, and corporate realms.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been formally revealed by the police, but Harpal Randhawa’s buddy, the journalist and filmmaker Hopewell Chin’ono, tweeted to confirm his passing. The memorial event honoring the father-son team was also announced by Chin’ono to the public.
