India’s disappointing performance in Paris Olympics

The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics started from July 26 and would be organized till August 11, 2024. This event features a wide list of sports which includes popular ones like athletics, gymnastics, and swimming, as well as new additions such as breaking and surfing.

The game marks the third time for Paris to host the Olympics another time. The previous occasions were held in the year 1900 and 1924. Among the highlights is the unique opening ceremony, which will be held along the River Seine, ending at the Eiffel Tower.

Failed shot at the 10 meter air pistol event

On the first day of the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Indian shooting team experienced a setback in the 10 meter air pistol event. Despite high expectations, India’s shooters did not manage to secure a medal. Palak Gulia and Sainyam are chosen as the representatives of India in the women’s 10 meter air pistol category. Palak Gulia, who had previously secured a bronze medal at the ISSF Final Olympic Qualification Championship, did not replicate that success in Paris. Sainyam, who had shown promise with a gold medal at the ISSF Junior World Cup, also fell short​.

Palak’s performance in the qualification rounds was strong, allowing her to make it to the finals where she continued to showcase her skills. However, during the Olympics, she faced tough competition and did not manage to win a medal. Despite this, her achievements in the run-up to the Olympics have been noteworthy, highlighting her potential and promise as a top shooter from India​.
