Paralympics 2024; India’s Most Successful Paralympics

India’s para-athletes are showcasing outstanding performances at the prestigious Paris Paralympics 2024, displaying remarkable skill, determination, and resilience. The total number of medals won by the country has now reached 15, with three gold medals, five silver medals, and seven bronze medals.

On 2 September India won a total of eight medals and became the country’s single most successful day in the history of Paralympics.

Here are some spectacular moments

At the 2024 Paralympics, India has been performing exceptionally well, this impressive display of talent and determination has been a source of pride for the nation.

Sumit Antil, a 26-year-old star javelin thrower from India, achieved a remarkable feat at the Paris Paralympic Games. He not only defended his title but also set a new Paralympics record in the F64 category with a phenomenal throw of 70.59 meters. Hailing from Sonipat in Haryana, Sumit surpassed his own previous Paralympic record of 68.55 meters, which he had set during the last Paralympics in Tokyo, where he also secured the gold medal. Notably, his current world record stands at an astounding 73.29 meters.

Nithya Sre Sivan also made the country proud by winning the bronze medal in the SH6 women’s singles badminton event. Additionally, para badminton star Nitesh Kumar emerged victorious in the Men’s Singles SL3 para badminton final, claiming India’s second gold medal.

 Notably, several other Indian athletes have also excelled, including Suhas Yathiraj and Thulasimathi Murugesan who secured silver medals, and Manisha Ramadass who clinched a bronze.

Furthermore, Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar garnered praise by earning a bronze in the Para archery Mixed Team Compound Event.

Earlier, Yogesh Kathuniya kicked off India’s medal tally on Day 5 with a silver in the Men’s Discus Throw F56 Final.
