The Indian cricket team, fresh off their thrilling victory in the T20 World Cup, returned home to a rapturous reception on Thursday. The squad, led by captain Rohit Sharma, landed in Delhi in the morning and were immediately whisked away to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At 11 AM, the team sat down with the Prime Minister for a special breakfast event. PM Modi congratulated the players on their outstanding performance and achievement in winning the coveted T20 World Cup trophy. He praised their skill, determination and fighting spirit that saw them overcome tough challenges to emerge victorious on the global stage.

Rohit Sharma, speaking on behalf of the team, expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support and encouragement from the nation throughout the tournament. Following the meeting in Delhi, the team flew to Mumbai, the financial capital of India, to participate in a grand victory parade. Thousands of ecstatic fans lined the streets, waving the tricolor and chanting slogans in support of their cricketing heroes.
The Open-top Bus ParadeThe open-top bus parade commenced at Nariman Point and proceeded along the iconic Marine Drive, ending at the Wankhede Stadium. The players, beaming with joy, waved to the crowds and acknowledged their fervent support. Many were seen taking selfies and interacting with the enthusiastic fans who had turned up in huge numbers.Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who is a local Mumbaikar, also invited fans to be part of the historic moment via a post on X that read, “we want to enjoy this special moment with all of you. So let’s celebrate this win with a victory parade at Marine Drive & Wankhede on July 4th from 5:00pm onwards. It’s coming home.”
