Inspection in Pune
The pune district health department is actively engaged and working with utmost dedication to conduct inspections of all healthcare facilities within jurisdiction. Their primary objective is to verify the accessibility of medicines, resources and personnel. Officials have conveyed that they intend to furnish a comprehensive report to the state government , outlining the facilities readiness to respond to emergencies and deliver health care services.
In response to the incident at Dr. Shankarrao Chavan Government medical college and Hospital in Nanded, where 38 patients, including infants, tragically lost their lives purportedly due to staffing and medication shortages, CM Shinde has issued directives, sparking widespread public concern and anger.
According to Dr.Kalpana Baliwant, the health officer of the Pune Municipal Corporation, two Assistant Health officers, namely Dr.Rajesh Dighe and Dr.Vidya Nagmode, have been designated to carry out evaluations of all healthcare facilities operated by the PMC and provide a comprehensive report.
Dr.laxman Gophane, the health officer of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, stated that the PCMC operated hospitals are well-equipped with sufficient staff and medications available on their premises.
Inspection in Telangana
The Telangana health department is currently carrying out surprise inspections of various government and private health care facilities, including testing and diagnostic laboratories, throughout the state. These inspections are intended to verify whether these healthcare establishments are upholding high-quality standards.
Dr. G. Srinivas Rao, the director of public health [DPH], announced on Saturday that a special initiative was underway to assess whether these healthcare facilities were delivering appropriate services to the public adhering to the regulations outlined in the Clinical Establishment Act.
The DPH emphasized that any inconsistencies in providing adequate healthcare services or deviations from the required regulations have led to the issuances of notices by the inspection team. These healthcare establishments are being requested to submit reports detailing the actions they have taken within a specified time frame.
Dr.Srinivas Rao clarified that the state-wide healthcare initiative aims to verify whether these healthcare facilities are maintaining patient records accurately. He added that measures are being implemented when patient records are not provided to the District Health Officials.
The Clinical Establishments Rules, 2011, empower health authorities to carry out inspections at private health facilities. Under this act, the health department has the authority to issue, renew, suspend, or revoke the registration of any hospital. Additionally, they are responsible of investigating complaints of violations and ensuring adherence to the provisions and regulations of the Act, as per the statement of the officials.
