  • Arabica: It is the most famous and commonly produced variety and is considered a higher-quality bean. It is believed that more than 60% of the coffee beans in the world that are produced are of the Arabica variety.
  • Robusta: The next variety of coffee beans is Robusta, which is said to be the second most produced in the world. As the name hints, the Robusta bean is hard but is also immune to a variety of diseases. The beans also have a smooth texture, and they even have a slight chocolaty taste, which makes them ideal to have with milk and sugar, or you can have it as an iced coffee.
  • Liberica: One of the hardest types of coffee beans is said to be the Liberica bean. When compared, they are larger than the other beans and are the only ones that are known to have an irregular shape in the world. Liberica beans are also unique in their aroma, sometimes they are fruity and floral too.
  • Excelsa: This variety has recently been classified as a member of the Liberica family and is vastly different in taste when compared to the Liberica coffee bean. These are mostly found in the southeast of Asia, which accounts for only around 7% of the world.

It seems like the list is endless; no wonder coffee drinks can be confusing to keep track of with so many options. To make things a little simpler for you, here I have compiled 10 of the most popular types of brew drinks, which are tasty and simple.

  1. Espresso

Espresso is created by forcing hot water through finely ground caffeine beans, producing a concentrated, rich, and syrupy coffee drink that is typically enjoyed in small shots. It serves as the foundation for many classic Italian coffee beverages commonly found in cafés.

  1. Latte/Iced Latte

A latte is made with espresso, and steamed milk, and topped with a small amount of milk foam. This drink is more popular in America compared to options like cappuccinos, as it contains less foam, giving it a smoother, creamier texture that appeals to those with more sensitive palates. To enjoy a chilled version, simply pour the espresso and steamed milk over ice cubes to create an iced latte.

  1. Black Coffee

It is one of the most popular coffee drinks, largely due to its simplicity and ease of preparation, whether made using drip, pour-over, French press, or other methods. It’s typically enjoyed without any added ingredients.

  1. Mocha
Mochas are delicious espresso-based beverages crafted with chocolate and topped with whipped cream instead of foam, allowing you to enjoy the perfect blend of both flavours in every sip. The ratio of coffee to chocolate can be adjusted according to your personal preference, whether you prefer a stronger coffee flavour or a sweeter chocolate taste. No matter your choice, your mocha is sure to stand out in any hot brewery shop.
  2. Americano
The Americano is a popular drink that’s simple to make—just espresso with hot water added. Its name originated during World War II when European baristas diluted espresso for American soldiers, resulting in a smoother, less concentrated flavour.

The Bottom Line

People around the globe unite to celebrate International Coffee Day on October 1, honouring the rich, aromatic beverage that fuels mornings and sparks connections. This day pays tribute to one of the most cherished drinks globally. In India, too, this hot drink has a dedicated fan base.
