This implies that Indian citizens will be welcomed with just an ordinary passport, once every 6 months. The order, according to the Iran Embassy, is said to be applicable from 4th February 2024. Conditions And Regulations

The new order, however, does not exist without its own set of conditions. In order to prevent any kind of misuse of the waiver by the citizens, stringent regulations have been erected.

Firstly, individuals holding ordinary passports from India are eligible for visa-free entry into Iran once every six months. However, there are limitations imposed to regulate the duration of each visit, with a maximum stay of 15 days per entry.

Secondly, it is exclusively reserved for tourism purposes. This means that the nationals availing themselves of this privilege must demonstrate their intention to engage in tourism activities during their stay. Any deviation from this purpose may require the individual to go through the standard application process.

For travelers who seek extended stays, multiple entries within a six-month period, or visas for purposes other than tourism (such as business or education), they must adhere to the traditional visa application process. This involves obtaining the necessary visas through the respective representations of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India. This condition ensures that individuals with varied travel purposes comply with the relevant immigration regulations and obtain the appropriate documentation for their specific needs.

Furthermore, it’s important to note that the policy specifically applies to Indian nationals entering Iran through air borders. While not explicitly stated, this implies that travelers entering through other means, such as land borders, may still be subject to traditional visa requirements.
