Speculations are circulating that Iran may be gearing up to launch a direct attack on Israel in the near future. This potential action is believed to be a retaliatory response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on 31st July.

The strike is expected to take place in the coming days and could happen before the scheduled negotiations on the situation involving hostages in Gaza and the proposed ceasefire set for August 15. An attack at this time could seriously undermine the important discussions, which Israeli officials have emphasized as an essential opportunity with a sense of urgency.

Israeli intelligence community(Mossad) reports suggest that Hezbollah could be planning to initiate an attack, which might be followed by a direct assault by Iran. These attacks are expected to be more wide-ranging than previous ones and could possibly involve missiles and drones targeting central Israel and civilian-populated areas.

Despite the ongoing concerns, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has assured that there have been no alterations to the Home Front Command’s guidelines for Israeli citizens. The current situation is still evolving, with internal deliberations within Iran that may ultimately influence their response.

Harsh punishment

According to a report by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, sources have revealed that Iran is gearing up to carry out actions directed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. These actions are in response to the death of Haniyeh and reportedly involve delivering a severe punishment to Israel.

Ali Fadavi, a deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, has confirmed that the orders are clear and explicit and will be carried out with maximum effectiveness.

US-Israel Defense Minister

In a recent conversation, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant informed US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin about Iran’s alleged preparations for a potential “large-scale” military assault on Israel.

The Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed that the call between Gallant and Austin took place overnight and that they discussed operational and strategic coordination, as well as Israel’s military readiness in response to Iranian threats.

The Pentagon announced that following a discussion, Secretary Austin had instructed the Abraham Lincoln strike group to speed up its deployment to the region. The statement reiterated the US commitment to defending Israel and highlighted the reinforcement of US military force posture and capabilities in the Middle East due to escalating regional tensions.

Austin has authorized the dispatch of a guided missile submarine to the Middle East, and additional fighter jets and Navy warships have been deployed to the region to enhance Israeli defenses.

Due to concerns about a potential attack, Israel Air Force commander Maj Gen Tomer Bar has issued an order prohibiting career officers from traveling abroad for holidays. This directive comes after reports that soldiers who were traveling in Georgia and Azerbaijan were instructed to return to Israel immediately. In addition, the leaders of France, Germany, and Britain have urged Tehran to avoid any retaliatory actions that could worsen regional tensions following the recent killings of Haniyeh and a Hezbollah leader in Beirut. The growing fear of an Iranian attack has caused a number of international airlines to cancel flights to the region
