Director, screenwriter, and producer Mike Flanagan isn’t an unknown face to those who love horror. He is best known for his works like The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and many more. Flanagan has built an arena where he can show his horror genre.
Yet, again Flanagan is hinting at a prequel for one of his works with adaptation from horror writer H.P Lovecraft.
Although Flanagan borrows ideas from horror writers like Edgar Allen Poe, Stephan King, and Christopher Pike, his shows are top-rated and fan-favorite. Through his narration and his portfolio as a horror director, Flanagan never fails to bring horror literature to the running screen.
Together with his skill and Lovecraft’s works, Flanagan is setting a prequel for one of his shows.

Designing H.P. Lovecraft in Flanagan Style.
The director with his capability has brought classic horror literature to live-action, given his earlier works. In an interview, he pointed out his interest in doing a Lovecraft narration.
Like his earlier shows such as Midnight Mass and movies like Gerald’s Game, it is understood that Flanagan is no stranger to complex horror stories.
The publicaly known series The Fall of the House of Usher is an adaptation of works by Edgar Allen Poe that brought out wide positive reviews, which adds to the statement that Flanagan can combine his direction and Lovecraft’s narration to bring out his experience in the cosmic horror genre.
Which Character is best suited for a Lovecraft Prequel?

The character of Dani from The Haunting of Bly Manor to Steven Crane in The Haunting of the Hill House is a portrayal of one or the other character from horror classics.
But the character who has more vagueness among all of Flanagan’s characters is the character of Arthur Gordon Pym. Pym, played by Mark Hamill, is an advocate for the Usher family and is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s classic The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket.
Transcribed in 1838, The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket also loosely inspired Lovecraft to create the story of At the Mountain of Madness, which makes it a perfect prequel to the story of the Ushers.
Will Pym get his Lovecraft narration?
In a brief time frame, Roderick Usher recalls exactly what Pym has stated about his past, indicating that he joined the Transglobe Expedition when he was a lot younger. The head of the Usher family points out Pym’s experiences on the journey, which molded him into the person he is today.
Since Flanagan creates stories through mix and match, Lovecraft’s At the Mountain of Madness would weave a unique story for the character of Arthur Pym.
It would paint a complete picture of Pym’s character to get a loosely adapted Lovecraftian prequel, with Mark Hamill as its lead.
This relationship between the two pieces would not only enhance The Fall of the House of Usher’s all-around narrative but also present audiences with a much-anticipated Mike Flanagan Lovecraftian adaptation.

Unfortunately, for its fans, it may sound bad as it seems like an uneven possibility for The Fall of the House of Usher to get a prequel since Mike Flanagan parted ways with Netflix. However, with several other movies and projects, he may not have enough time on his hands to stitch up a prequel for Pym and his back story.
However, fans hope to see a standalone adaptation of At the Mountain of Madness combined with the elements of Lovecraft’s works, featuring Mark Hamill as the narrator.
