Israel and Hamas locked deal, 50 hostages in exchange of Truce

Israel and Hamas have locked the deal on Wednesday to release at least 50 prisoners kept as hostages with Israel and Hamas militant group.

Israel has also promised a four day humanitarian truce for safe evacuation of Palestinian people. In this diplomatic breakthrough between Israel and Palestine after the war, Palestantine will be releasing the 50 people kept as hostages including women and children that were kidnapped during the very first attack by Hamas militant group on 7 October.

Qatar’s mediator role between Israel and Hamas

Qatar had acted as the negotiator between the two two sides and after weeks of negotiations backed by Qatar, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government’s minister agreed for a humanitarian truce for Palestinian people. After overnight meetings, he told his cabinet that although this decision was difficult to take, they did the right thing by taking this decision of approving truce in the name of humanity and harmony.

One USA official described this approval for truce by the Israeli cabinet as the result of a rigorous meeting for over an entire week. Hamas had also welcomed this decision of humanitarian truce.

The Israeli government’s record mentions that Hamas militant group attacked on October 7 which was the most dreadful attack in it’s history and the records mentioned that the attack had left 1200 people dead and most of the women and children were kidnapped and put as hostages by the Hamas gum men. After this incident, Israel launched a counter attack on Hamas and promised to destroy the whole militant group and bring the people back to their own country which resulted in further escalation of war.

Israel launched ground raids and bombing incidents in Gaza city which caused the death of more than 7000 people in the territory which included thousands of children also.

To ensure the safe release of the people kept as hostages, Israel further announced a four day truce to stop any assault in Gaza city but mentions that this truce does not guarantee the end of the war. The Israeli government further proposed that for every 10 additional hostages released from Hamas territory, it will provide a day extension for Humanitarian truce.

Plan of action for four day truce

Media sources from Hamas suggest that this truce will include a ceasefire in the air as well as ground raids of Israeli military in the southern part of Gaza. this negotiation was a long process which includes officials from USA central Intelligence agency, leaders from Egypt, Cairo and Gaza.

US President Joe Biden expressed his happiness over the matter and said that these brave souls, that is the people who were kept as hostages for such a long time will finally meet and unite with their family members permanently once the deal is completed successfully. 

Qatar’s foreign ministry further confirmed this news by stating that the region will also be releasing women and children who were kept as prisoners in exchange for the release of hostages by Palestinian. The ministry further explained that the starting time of the truce will be announced within the next 24 hours by both sides and will be for the next four days. 

After the announcement of this deal, the Netanyahu government faced a lot of criticism from the right wing leaders as they argued that the country has agreed to give too many incentives to Palestinian officials. National Security minister of Israel, Itamar Ben Gvir argued that he will be against this deal and demanded that Palestine must release the Israeli soldiers also who were kept as hostages.
