13 Palestinians, including five children, have lost their lives because of the Israeli airstrike and the raid. The airstrike and raid occurred in a Palestinian Nur Shams refugee camp set up in the West Bank.

October 19, 2023. The fourteenth day of the Israel-Hamas war with over 4,000 lives being claimed due to the gruesome war. The casualties included children and the elderly who were robbed of their future and peaceful lives. Loved ones were lost, families were torn apart and in the midst of it, the Israeli defense chief commanded their troops to prepare themselves to enter the Gaza Strip with the aim of destroying HAMAS, the Palestinian military group.

Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America has said that he won’t let terrorists like ‘Hamas’ and tyrants like ‘Putin’ win.

In these past few weeks, President Joe Biden has deployed naval force to the Middle East as his sign of assistance. The naval forces include two aircraft carriers, warships, and around 2,000 Marines.

According to US officials, multiple attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria have taken place in these past few days. Recently, a drone strike was initiated on the US forces in Syria. The drone strike did give minor injuries but nothing life-threatening.

The Israeli Airstrike and Raid

October 20, 2023. Israel bombarded the Gaza Strip, hitting various locations where the Palestinian people rushed over to seek shelter and safety while evacuating an Israeli town near the border of Lebanon.

The Israeli defense minister has said that Israel has no plans to maintain control over the civilians in Gaza after its war against Hamas.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has said that lawmakers were the first time a top Israeli official discussed its long-term plans for Gaza.

Gallant said Israel expected a three-phase war which started with airstrikes and ground maneuvers which they anticipated then defeating the resistance forces, and finally, ceasing Israel’s “responsibility for life in the Gaza Strip.”

Palestinians in Gaza have reported that heavy airstrikes in Khan Yunis, a town in the territory’s south have occurred which claimed numerous innocent lives. Ambulances carrying men, women, and children streamed into the local Nasser Hospital. The hospital, Gaza’s second largest, already was overflowing with patients, and people seeking shelter were now trying their best to save as many lives as possible while the war claimed way more than what they could save.

The airstrike by Israel could be in retaliation to the airstrike by Hamas on October 7, 2023, where numerous Israeli citizens got injured and even lost their lives.

A U.N. human rights office spokesperson, Ravina Shamdasani says that there are new signs that some Palestinians who initially moved north because of the Israeli order to evacuate are now returning to their homes because Israeli strikes are now taking place in the south as well.

Ravina Shamdasani told reporters that they are very concerned that Israeli Forces’ heavy strikes are continuing across Gaza, including the south. The strikes combined with extremely difficult living conditions in the south, have pushed some Palestinians to return to the south, despite the continuing heavy bombing there

Ravina Shamdasani said that the rights office has reported about people wanting to migrate back north, including one unidentified Palestinian who said, “I might as well die in my own house.” Depicting the disturbing conditions that Palestinian civilians are facing now. Where death doesn’t seem like a possibility, but the unavoidable truth so they choose to die in the comfort of their home rather than a camp.
