James Cameron
James Cameron is a Canadian director, screenwriter and producer with a long and successful career in filmmaking and television. His most famous works include the Avatar series, The Terminator series, The Abyss and now the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash. His next film after the Avatar series would be about the nuclear attack on Japan. Cameron decided upon meeting Tsumotsu Yamaguchi, the survivor of both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki incident, that he wanted to get the whole experience of it on screen. The film will be based on the books “Last Train from Hiroshima” and “Ghosts of Hiroshima” written by Charles Pellegrino.
When is the movie going to be produced?
James Cameron commits to filming it after as soon as his “Avatar” production allows him to. This film would mark it as a non-”Avatar” film after the production of the “Titanic” in 1997.
It would be called the “The Last Train to Hiroshima” drawn from Charles Pellegrino’s books about the nuclear tragedy of Japan. The Japanese man whose story will be shown in the film went to Nagasaki by train after the attack on Hiroshima, where there was another nuclear attack.
“The Last Train to Hiroshima” and “Ghosts of Hiroshima” by Charles Pellegrino
Charles Pellegrino has taken inspiration from the voices of the survivors of the incident along with forensic archaeology to write his books. He writes about the aftermath of the nuclear detonation and how it changed the world forever, leaving Japan and affected people scarred.
It gives accounts of the eyewitnesses and their personal experiences of the atomic attack at the beginning of the narratives of both books. It gave a vivid description of the Japanese civilians and the American pilots. Approximately 150,000 and 246,000 people were said to have been killed during the explosion.
“Last Train From Hiroshima” offers a unique firsthand experience of the tragedy from the voices of the survivors. There were only thirty-five people to have fled the scenes of the attack at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Tsumotsu Yamaguchi is one of those survivors who gave an account of his experiences. All of these experiences will be documented by James Cameron in his film.
