Before departing for the G7 Summit, PM Modi conducted a review meeting on the terror incidents in Jammu. Following a terror incident in Doda, security personnel started searching Kota Top again.
In response to the wave of attacks that have rocked Jammu over the past four days, including the attack on the bus carrying pilgrims. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday ordered security forces to use all available counterterrorism resources. This came even as police detained about 50 people for questioning and personnel scoured the area in search of foreign terrorists.
The meeting was presided over by PM Modi, who also met with Home Minister Amit Shah and addressed the use of security personnel and counterterrorism efforts, according to government sources. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other officials were also present.
They added that Modi assessed the situation in the Union Territory and spoke with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir as well. Sinha gave him an update on the initiatives the local government was working on.
During the meeting, the prime minister received a comprehensive briefing on the security situation in the region and was made aware of the ongoing counterterrorism initiatives.

Jammu Terror Attacks
Since Sunday, there have been four consecutive terror strikes in the districts of Reasi, Kathua, and Doda of J&K, targeting civilians and security personnel by highly skilled foreign terrorists from Pakistan.
In one incident, on Wednesday at 1:45 am, a gang of three to four terrorists opened fire on a joint check station of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the 4 Rashtriya Rifles in Doda’s Chattargala region on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot route. Following an hours-long gunfight, five army soldiers and one special police officer were hurt.
A second gang of terrorists assaulted a police squad on Wednesday night, injuring head constable Fareed Ahmed in the Kota Top region, 150 miles away from Chhattargala, according to officials.
Two terrorists were neutralized and one jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force was killed in a gunfight that started late on Tuesday night and lasted till Wednesday morning in Kathua, which is around 220 kilometers distant. Six security officers and one civilian were also hurt.
After armed terrorists opened fire on a bus, transporting pilgrims in Reasi on Sunday, the vehicle lost control and plunged into a canyon, resulting in nine fatalities and 42 injuries, there were three gunfights that followed.

Additionally, According to reports, security personnel started searching again on Thursday in the Kota Top neighborhood of Gandoh in the Doda district, where terrorists had ambushed a police squad and seriously injured a chief constable.
A ₹5 lakh cash reward has been issued by the J&K police for information on any of the four terrorists who are thought to have been involved in recent terror actions. The police have also produced drawings of the suspects.
“The army, special operations group (SOG), and police resumed searches in the adjoining forests and upper reaches on Thursday, while there is no contact with the terrorists who had opened fire and injured a head constable on Wednesday” Doda senior superintendent of police (SSP) Javed Iqbal stated.
It was the fourth terror incident in as many days in Jammu division on Wednesday when terrorists opened fire on security forces at Kota Top in the Gandoh region of Doda district, injuring head constable Fareed Ahmed.
The SSP noted that although efforts to find terrorists in Chattargala, where a terrorist strike on Tuesday night late resulted in injuries to five troops and one SPO, were ongoing, no progress has been made thus far.
According to authorities, security personnel in the districts of Kathua, Samba, and Jammu have been placed on alert due to intelligence inputs regarding a potential terror threat, and searches were also ongoing in Reasi and the nearby Rajouri district.
