Election date for assembly seats in Jharkhand has been announced. The election is to be concluded in two phases in the state. The total electors in Phase 1 are around 1.37 crores according to the data released.
The voting for Phase 1 of the polls got over on Wednesday November 13.
Highlights of Jharkhand Elections
The total voter turnout was at 64.86 per cent for the first phase of election till 5 pm as per the statement released by the Election Commission.
The first phase of assembly elections was held on 43 seats. As per the official statement phase 1 polling in Jharkhand concluded peacefully.
The voter turnout saw an increase from the previous assembly polls. The voter turnout exceeded the 63.9 per cent of the 2019 assembly polls in these 43 seats.
Participation by the voters from diverse groups like women, first time voters, elderly among others was seen in the districts where voting was being held. Voting for 43 assembly seats was held across 15 districts of the state.
The voting at the polling station started at 7 am. The phase 1 of the election, voting was held at more than 15,000 polling stations in which all women managed polling stations were 1,152 as per the data released.
The polling station in rural areas 12,716 and in urban areas 2,628.
According to the data released, Lohardaga district’s approximate voter turnout till 5 pm recorded at 73.21 per cent and Hazaribagh district recorded 59.13 per cent till 5 pm. Ranchi district recorded an approximate voter turnout at 60.49 per cent till 5 pm in the phase 1 of election as per the official statement.
In the first phase of polling the number of candidates who are contesting the election is 683 for 43 assembly seats.
A total of 81 seats are in Jharkhand. In the first phase 43 seats went for polling. For the remaining 38 seats voting will take place on November 20. The election result for Jharkhand will be out on November 23.
