Jimmy Kimmel will be hosting the Academy Awards for a 4th time, having previously done so in 2017, 2018 and 2023. Only Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal and Bob Hope have hosted the esteemed ceremony more than 4 times, putting Kimmel in some very respected company.
He will be accompanied by his wife, Molly McNearney who will be the Executive Producer for the show. McNearney’s work speaks for herself, she is the Executive Producer and Lead Writer of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and has also gone on to produce a number of other projects like Murder Mystery, the 95th Academy Awards and an edition of the Emmy Awards.
The announcement was made by the Academy on X, mentioning that “the secret is out”. Kimmel tweeted about the same talking about how enthused he was about being chosen. Kimmel and McNearney both expressed gratitude and thanked the Academy for giving them the opportunity to come back.
The CEO of the Academy, Bill Kramer, in a statement to Variety talked about how thrilled the Academy was to welcome Kimmel and McNearney back. He talked about how the couple shared the Academy’s love for Movies and were equally as committed to producing a great show for Audiences everywhere.
According to Billboard, Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will be joining McNearney as Executive Producers and had nothing but praise for her. In a joint statement, they talked about how Molly was one of the best producers in Hollywood and how Kimmel may have cemented his place in Oscars History as an all time great. Hamish Hamilton will be joining the crew and serving as director for the occasion.
