J&K : Remarkable presence of voters in the 1st phase of elections

After a decade-long  unrest consisting of multiple riots, protests and disagreements in Jammu and Kashmir, the state is all geared up to carry out the Legislative Assembly Elections. Over 23 lakh voters including men,women,youth and first time voters turned up to cast their votes. While covering all the 24 constituencies ( Jammu 8,Kashmir 16 ), elections are to be conducted in (3) three phases from 18th September to 1st of October this year.

Political parties contesting in the elections –

    The  major political parties competing in the elections are Bharatiya Janata Party, Indian National Congress, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party (JKDP) comprising 64 candidates which are contesting from different districts of J&K. On the other hand, Iltija Mufti is beginning her political career by contesting from Bijbehara district.

    Prime Minister Modi to the General Secretary of Congress Mallikarjun Khardge and Union Home Minister Amit Shah appealed to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to vote. 

    The public from various districts were seen to be eager at the polling booths.Women were seen with their maximum participation in the first phase. According to reports of PTI, 50% of voters casted their vote by this afternoon.Pahalgam became the district with the highest voting percentage of – 47.68%.

     What do the residents expect ?

      The public of J&K has high hopes and expectations, the youth have agendas of increase in work opportunities and educational institutions in their hometown. Women from the region demand for reduction in the prices of commodities and freedom of living without fear is what senior citizens want to restore Article 370, all in all the public of J&K has high hopes and expectations.

      Jammu has been a territory of unbalanced political dynamics.Besides many obstacles from the PoK and LAC, the government has put forward the efforts of restoring its peace.Meanwhile the country itself has its eyes majorly focusing on the peaceful conduct of the elections.

      Military personnels and officials were appointed on their duties to execute the fair voting at the polling station of Jammu and Kashmir.
