Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Names of 35 Candidates Released by JMM

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has announced the list of candidates for the forthcoming state assembly election. The election date has already been announced by the Election Commission of India. 

The election will take place in two phases on November 13 and 20. 

The elections are to be held on a total of 81 seats. With the election dates announced, election campaign is in full form with election rallies happening, talks over seat sharing and announcement of tickets to candidates.

35 Names Announced

The first list named 35 JMM candidates who will contest the upcoming assembly elections. The names announced by the party consist of famous people including the names of Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren. The CM is contesting the election from Barhait seat in the upcoming assembly elections. 

Kalpana Soren is also fighting the elections from Gandey assembly constituency located in Giridih district.

Basant Soren, who is the brother of Hemant Soren is contesting the assembly election from Dumka seat.

The names of other candidates whose names featured in the announced list includes Ravindranath Mahto who got the ticket from Nala, Stephen Marandi will contest the polls Maheshpur, Hafizul Hasan is to contest the assembly elections from Madhupur, Bebi Devi of JMM  from Dumri  is set to contest the assembly polls. M.T Raja to fight from Rajmahal, Vikas Munda will contest the election from Tamar among other candidates.

Kedar Hazra got the ticket from Jamua, he had left BJP and joined JMM a few days earlier.

Kalpana Soren to Contest from Gandey

Kalpana Soren, wife of Hemant Soren, will be contesting the elections from Gandey Constituency. Presently, she is the MLA from the same constituency. Soren won the bye-elections held in the month of May this year.

Kalpana has been quite active in politics. She frequently campaigns and is seen addressing election rallies and is one of the star campaigners in the coming up polls. 

MLAs Shift Parties

As the election approaches and the campaigning starts in full swing, there can be seen shifting of political leaders from one party to another. Three leaders who were ex- MLA of BJP have joined JMM.  The names of the ex-MLAs who have left BJP are Lois Marandi, Kunal Sarangi and Lakshman Tudu have joined JMM.

A major shift was seen in August when the previous Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Champai Soren joined BJP. He was one of the senior leaders in JMM.

List announced by other Parties

The candidates list has been announced by various other parties in the state. Congress has released the first list which contains the names of 21 candidates.  

After the talks on seat sharing RJD has put forward names of 6 candidates who will be contesting the elections. 

BJP has also made its first list public in which 66 candidate names have been announced
