Season 3 of Netflix’s Sweet Home, a K-drama narrative, lost viewers, even with the return of popular South Korean actor Lee Do Hyun to the ensemble cast.
With returning key cast members including Song Kang, Lee Jin Uk, Lee Si Young, Lee Do Hyun, and Go Min Si, Sweet Home Season 3 will release on Netflix on July 19. The teasers for the season have garnered a lot of interest prior to the premiere.
But when the beloved Naver webtoon by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young Chan was given new life for the third and final part of the South Korean apocalyptic horror series, the outcome was all bark and no bite.
The show’s name surged up on Good Data Corporation’s weekly buzzworthy K-drama list for the third week of July (TV-OTT) immediately following its launch, but it was unable to take the top spot.
The third season of Sweet Home slid even more to rank #7 on the buzzworthiness (TV-OTT) list in the second week of its Netflix debut. In contrast, Good Partner continued to have a commanding lead over the chart in the fourth week of July. Serendipity’s Embrace, the most recent romantic comedy on TVN starring Kim So Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop, has risen from its previous seventh position to a lofty second spot.
According to the third-week special FUNdex report, none of the 19 truly unique K-dramas that were made available on OTT platforms peaked at the top of the buzzworthy ranking. The steadily declining buzzworthiness of the thriller genre in dramas ultimately led to Sweet Home’s demise. South Korean TV network tvN has taken note of this trend, shifting its focus to multi-genre programming with a stronger emphasis on romantic comedies. This thematic shift is demonstrated by shows like Queen of Tears, Lovely Runner, and the current Serendipity’s Embrace, which also show encouraging results on the buzzworthiness chart.
In any case, viewers’ expectations were not fulfilled by the Netflix original series. According to the survey, more than 90% of people’s first impressions of the show during its first week were unfavorable. Additionally, the introduction of several unidentified and superfluous characters made it difficult for the viewers to become used to the play. Additionally, the disorganized plot, which lacked concentration and made it difficult to distinguish between the primary and supporting characters, was panned by critics.
The show’s visuals were a complete disaster, with mediocre CGI. The Good Data Corporation’s survey of internet public opinion revealed that viewers were harshly critical of the show, calling it “too erratic” or “boring” in certain cases.
Remarks such as the primary issue are that far too many dull characters are presented; instead of concentrating on the key characters, they added too many diverse storylines, which gained precedence. The audience also believed that they should have just seen Season 1. They felt that omitting both the subsequent and third chapters was the “best choice.”
Many fans of K-drama only checked in to pass the time and see a few of their favorite stars in the mix, but they were mostly yearning for the uniqueness and general atmosphere of Season 1.

Disney Plus’s Red Swan, starring Rain and Kim Ha Neul, was ranked sixth in K-drama, while Sweet Home Season 3 dropped to the seventh spot. No Way Out: The Roulette, an upcoming thriller series on U+ Mobile TV that will premiere at #9 in the top 10 chart, will also be accessible on Disney Plus in limited territories.
The mystery K-drama, which is slated to debut on Wednesday, July 31, features a cast that includes Yum Jung Ah (Sky Castle), Kim Mu Yeol (The Roundup: Punishment), Yoo Jae Myung (Itaewon Class), and Cho Jin Woong (The Handmaiden).
Conversely, JTBC’s Miss Night and Day has maintained its position as one of the most popular non-English series on Netflix globally for the past five weeks. Sweet Home Season debuted on the Global Top 10 chart (July 15–July 21) at #5, one spot ahead of its position at #6.
Even if Lee Do Hyun’s Sweet Home Netflix homecoming wasn’t as sweet as planned, his starring role in Exhuma, one of the most popular Korean films of the year, marked another victory for Netflix after its OTT debut in South Korea. In its first week of release, the horror film with an occult theme, which also starred Choi Min Sik, Kim Go Eun, and Yoo Hae Jin, triumphed at the top of the K-drama South Korean box office rankings.
