Telugu media reports that streaming in South Indian languages will start on August 23. The film is expected to hit the screens in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages from this day. An official announcement may come soon. The OTT release was postponed by two months as a result of the great reception the film received at the theatres.

A sequel to Kalki 2898 AD is currently being developed by Hyderabad-based production company Vyjayanthi Movies in response to the film’s success. The creators are sure that well-presented Indian mythological tales can compete with the richness and intricacy of superhero genres in the West.
While Kalki 2898 AD may not be a response to superhero films from Marvel or DC, Nag Ashwin said in a previous interview that it does offer the same degree of heroics and narrative depth. He thinks that telling these stories in a way that is appropriate for modern audiences—possibly even adding some sci-fi elements—has struck a chord with viewers. The story will be continued from a new angle in the already-in-development sequel.

With an estimated 600 crore rupee budget, Kalki 2898 AD was developed. In an interview, Nag Ashwin stated that the plot took him five years to create and that the script went through eleven or twelve revisions over time. The movie was released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, and English, among other languages.
