Kareena Kapoor plays the role of Detective Sergeant Jasmeent Bhamra or Jass who has recently moved to the setting of Wycombe High. Superintendent Miller (Kieth Allen) assigns her to the investigation of the murder of a Sikh schoolboy.

Alongside Kareena, Ash Tandon who plays the role of Detective Inspector Hardik or Hardy, leads this investigation. He deduces that Saquib Chowdhary (Kapil Redekar), is the killer despite Jass’s doubts. She is shown battling her own tragedy while unravelling this investigation.

Jass believes that the case isn’t that solid and the alleged murderer might be innocent. She delves deeper into the layers of the immigrant community. The town is at the risk of being overcome with hatred, paranoia and fear as the tensions rise high among these communities that are divided by religion and nationality.

Kareena delivers an enthralling performance in her role of Jass, an unfaltering detective who is dealing with personal woes while unravelling the complexities around the case of a young boy from Buckinghamshire. Her role shows real determination devoid of glam which portrays her gutsy character. Her unwavering commitment can be felt through acting, adding depth to her screen time.

Critical Points In The Film

The Buckingham Murders have numerous storylines and ideas that don’t blend well. The movie addresses topics like race, money and adapting to social norms, but it fails to go beyond the upper surface of these issues. It attempts to mix these serious issues with a murder mystery plot but fails to do so and doesn’t give justice to either part.

It has a fluctuating pace with rushed revelations or a slow plotline, which fails to keep the audience engaged throughout. It was noticed that the cultural and religious dynamics between Sikh and Muslim communities were shown to be heavily stereotypical.

If the viewers hoped for a sturdy murder mystery plot, this movie might disappoint as it falls short of a tight plot. It doesn’t delve deeply into the complex social issues it once touched initially, leading to its inconsistent execution.
