Kiran Rao’s Film Laapata Ladies hits the Box Office

On Friday, 1st March Laapata Ladies, Directed by Kiran Rao, Produced by Aamir Khan. Starring Sparsh Shrivastava, Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan and Nitanshi Goel, started screening in Cinemas. On the Opening Day the collection was ₹70 Lakh. It had to make more on the other days to make a notable appearance.

Aamir Khan handpicked the Story

It is reported that Aamir Khan who is also the Producer of this Film had handpicked the story from a screenwriting competition. The real owner of this script is Biplab Goswami.

70 Lakhs to 38 Lakhs

With a opening of 70-75 Lakhs on Day 1 the numbers fell short on Monday when the movie made Just 38 Lakhs. It showed a decline. However, on Weekend that is Saturday and Sunday Laapata Ladies showed a 93% and 24% increase respectively. In total the movie on it’s very first weekend earned 4 crore.

The Movie made 7 crore in total

Till Day 5 the movie has made 7 crores. The movies Indian Gross Collection is around ₹5 crore and worldwide collection is around ₹1.25 crore. In total upto now the movie has made ₹7 crore.

The Movie Laapata Ladies premiered at the Toronto Film Festival (aka TIFF). The Film Premiered as “Lost Ladies” and not “Laapata Ladies”. The date it premiered at TIFF was 8 September but it released on 1st March for the Public in India.

5 Crore Milestone Almost Completed By Kiran Rao

Earlier the Movie was struggling to cross it’s 5 crore Milestone. Now, Laapata Ladies has completed ₹4.90 crore in the domestic Market and 7 crore worldwide. Laapata Ladies is showing growth at the Box office. This is because of it’s unique storytelling and also the amazing performances given by their “Star Cast”. The amazing Story is giving the inspiration to many writers and even directors to embrace this type of content.
