The Trinamool Congress (TMC) is pushing for a new legislative measure. Senior party leader Abhishek Banerjee has advocated for a bill in Parliament aimed at expediting the trial and sentencing of rapists and murderers within a week, ensuring they face severe consequences. “These rapists, who are unfit to live in society, should either be eliminated through encounters or hanged,” Banerjee stated emphatically. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed that her administration will pursue the death penalty for the perpetrator and has indicated that the government is open to investigations by any central agency.
