Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: Sanjay Roy’s Statements During Polygraph Test

1

Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, underwent a polygraph test after consistently claiming innocence. The lie detector test reportedly flagged several discrepancies in Roy’s statements, which raised suspicions about his involvement.

According to sources cited by Times of India, Roy appeared anxious and unnerved during the polygraph test. Despite being confronted with evidence by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), he maintained that the victim was already dead when he arrived at the seminar hall. He cited multiple alibis and claimed he fled the scene in fear after finding the body.

Contradictions in Roy’s Testimony

The CBI noted several false and unconvincing answers from Roy during the polygraph test. While he had earlier confessed to the crime, his recent statements indicated a complete reversal of his stance. Roy told jail guards and even the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) in Sealdah that he knew nothing about the rape and murder, asserting that he was framed and innocent.

Inconsistencies and Evidence

Despite his claims of innocence, the CBI and Kolkata police have found glaring inconsistencies in Roy’s statements. An officer involved in the investigation mentioned that Roy struggled to explain the injuries found on his face or why he was present in the building during the crime. Surveillance footage from the hospital’s CCTV system captured Roy entering the premises at 4:03 am on 9 August, and investigators found his Bluetooth headset at the crime scene.

Psychoanalytic Profile of Sanjay Roy

Further complicating matters, a psychoanalytic profile of Roy revealed disturbing traits. According to reports, Roy has an “animal-like instinct” and shows no remorse. Investigators found that he is severely addicted to pornography, further supporting the theory of his involvement in the crime. The victim, a 31-year-old doctor, was found in a semi-nude state with evidence of sexual assault and 25 injuries on her body, including private parts.

The investigation into this heinous crime continues, with authorities working to gather all necessary evidence to bring justice for the victim.
