Lata Mangeshkar, a renowned singer, would have been 94 today as it is her birth anniversary. Regarded as ‘ Nightingale of India’, the singer received huge appreciation for her voice. She was an icon of Indian cinema. Through her mesmerising voice , she reached the hearts of millions. For decades , she was the voice behind many Bollywood actresses. Some of her iconic songs include Lag Ja Gale , Hothon mein aisi baat , Bholi si Surat, Humko Humise chura lo , Bangle ke peeche and many more.
While many people know her for her singing, a few people know about her passion for photography. As per The Paperclip , she had the’ State of the Art’ camera equipment such as various types of lenses. The Paperclip , which is a digital media house, introduced us to the other talent of Lata Mangeshkar.

What Is Shared About Her Talent Of Photography By The Paperclip?
According to The Paperclip, Lata didi’s interest in photography may have begun in her childhood days when she liked painting. She once drew a wound on her face and pretended to be hurt.She had a fascination for people and their faces. In 1946, it is reported that she even bought a Rolleiflex camera for ₹2000 which became her inseparable companion.
A Rolleiflex camera has a history related to the Nazi Germany. The Paperclip said that the owners were very supportive of the Nazis, though most of the workers were Jews.
The Paperclip also mentioned that she had a keen understanding of using natural light and shadow. The media house also shared a picture of her nephew Adinath which was clicked by her and mentioned that it is a brilliant example of her expertise.

The Paperclip mentioned that she would often go for photoshoots with her coworkers and on tours ,she would bring her camera out and capture the everyday life around her.
In the 11 slides of the post by Paperclip, one slide also says that when Lata Mangeshkar travelled to the West Indies ,she used to critique photographs with Indian writer Harish Bhimani and discussed intricate details of photography. Harish Bhimani was stunned by her expertise in composition techniques ,films and exposure.
Lataji was not a fan of automatic cameras where the aperture and shutter speed can not be controlled under various lighting conditions. A photograph of Big Ben was shared which Lataji shot with a wide aperture and high shutter speed using a fast film from a running car in London.
In 1983, while visiting Australia for her concert at Sydney Opera House , her flight landed at Changi International Airport ,Singapore which is considered as a shopper’s paradise. When she returned to her flight after shopping , somebody asked her if she did buy perfume for herself. She brought out a new camera film from her bag.The camera film which she bought was made of the latest technology that was helpful in shooting pictures in bright daylight. Through the film , one could also adjust the colour balance using techniques like Chromatic adaptation. That shows that she wasn’t an amateur photographer.
The Paperclip concluded the Twitter post with a beautiful photograph clicked by Lata Mangeshkar and a quote by her which says ,” I learnt it here and there ,I like photography,so I took it a bit seriously..I don’t believe in just clicking at random ,what the eyes see must be reproduced faithfully.”
The legendary singer left the world last year on February 6th but her memories remain in the hearts of her fans till now and beyond.
