Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi says CAA is here to stay, accuses opposition for spreading lies

During a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed accusations made by the opposition regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He firmly asserted that despite any efforts to the contrary, the CAA is firmly entrenched and cannot be repealed. Modi’s statement came on the heels of the issuance of the initial batch of citizenship certificates to 14 individuals under the CAA.

He mentioned that the process of granting citizenship under the CAA to refugees has begun. These individuals, who are Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists, have been residing in the country for a considerable period as refugees. They were affected by the religious-based partition of the country.

The prime minister also emphasized that the law will grant citizenship to thousands of refugees.

The prime minister accused the Congress of neglecting these refugees because they are not part of their ‘voter bank’. He claimed that both the Congress and the SP attempted to deceive people regarding the CAA, aiming to incite unrest in Uttar Pradesh and the nation as a whole.

The prime minister elaborated on the claims made by the INDIA Bloc, emphasizing that despite their promises to eliminate the CAA, he reiterated that no one possesses the capability to achieve such a task.

Modi went on to explain that despite being separate parties, the Congress and Samajwadi Party essentially operate from the same playbook. He described their tactics as selling appeasement, spreading lies, engaging in dynastic politics, and fostering corruption. He also lamented that these parties have contributed to the country’s communal strife, branding them as frauds. He claimed these political parties essentially operate under the same roof, selling a mix of appeasement, falsehoods, dynasty politics, and corruption.

Modi highlighted that during the recent elections in Kashmir, people actively participated and expressed pride in engaging in the democratic process. He pointed to the enthusiasm displayed by the people of Srinagar as evidence that no one can revive Article 370 and resort to vote bank politics.

The prime minister alleged that he has noted a significant shift in the recent Kashmir elections, highlighting how in the past, there were widespread protests and people lived in fear, facing threats from terrorists. However, he emphasized that this time, the turnout in Srinagar surpassed previous records, indicating a positive change in the region’s democratic engagement.

The upcoming phase of the Lok Sabha election is set for May 20, marking another crucial step in the democratic India. Following this, the counting of votes and the declaration of results for the Lok Sabha election 2024 are scheduled for June 4, which will determine the future leadership of the country.
