Lokesh Kanagaraj’s confirmed LCU lineup culminates with the thrilling ‘Vikram 2’

Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is currently promoting his upcoming biggie, Leo with Thalapathy Vijay, opened up about his future plans for LCU.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has established himself as one of the most sought-after talents in the South cinema after his back-to-back blockbuster movies which received much love from the audiences. The young and talented director set great standards with his action drama hits in the Tamil cinema.

The filmmaker has shown his talent to audiences with the films Kaithi, Master, and Vikram. His directorials have not only done wonders at the box office but also set new benchmarks. Kamal Haasan’s Vikram was a huge reason for this success. 
After Vikram, the talented filmmaker is all set to thrill the fans with the highly anticipated Leo featuring Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles. The director became popular for his cinematic universe which bring references from his earlier movies to his current films. LCU ( Lokesh Cinematic Universe) as fans call it has many iconic actors playing terrific roles in the films.

Lokesh Kanagaraj wants to build LCU very strong

The director who is currently awaiting the release of his latest film Leo is continuously attending interviews as a part of the promotions. In a recent chat with Galatta Plus, director Lokesh Kanagaraj opened up about successfully establishing an action drama universe in the Tamil cinema and how he is planning to expand it more with sequels and spin-offs. He also opened up about building the LCU firm and strong before handing over the universe to other established filmmakers.

According to Lokesh, the world-building of his cinematic universe is still in its budding stage and it needs to be expanded more with detailing and strong characterizations.

The director also revealed that as for now, he wishes to continue as the sole maker of LCU as the characters in the universe are completely his ideas. He said that in the future he might welcome other filmmakers to the universe once the LCU is completely established.

Lokesh emphasized that he currently has no plans of collaborating with other filmmakers or writers for his upcoming projects in the LCU. His upcoming projects in the LCU include the sequels Kaithi 2 and Vikram 2 and Rolex standalone movie. He said he would be teaming up with young talents for other story ideas and LCU spin-offs.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo a part of LCU?

The young director started the LCU with the much-loved film Kaithi in 2019. The Karti starrer film received a positive response from the fans and their excitement doubled after the release of Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram in 2022 which was a sensational hit at the box office. Following this the director is back with Leo starring Thalapathy Vijay.

Moving on to the highlight of the interview, which everyone was waiting to know, Lokesh said that he would rather not reveal whether Leo would be a part of LCU or not currently, but the majority of fans feel that it is a part of LCU. Fans believe that a few names of certain characters and incidents shown in the recently released trailer connect the movie to the cinematic world created by Lokesh. Everyone has their own assumptions revolving. However, will have to wait till the release to have the answers.

According to recent reports, it is revealed that the LCU end game will feature Prabhas in its conclusion.

Lokesh’s expected lineup

Lokesh Kanagaraj has many films upcoming and according to Aakashavaani, his line-up looks like this. Thalaivar 170, Kaithi 2, Vikram 2, Rolex and a last film with Prabhas. The actor is said to be directing 10 films in his career and it will likely be his last directorial.
