Madya Pradesh has set the new world record for planting 11 lakh trees in a single day. This has been made possible by the MP government as they aimed to do plantation drive in Indore on Sunday.
The chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Mohan Yadav has received a certificate from Guiness Book of World Records for the same. The title of the record was ‘most trees planted by a team in 24 hours’.
Earlier this record was hold by Assam as they planted more than 9 lakh trees in a single day. However, this was taken over by Madhya Pradesh as they planted even more. According to the Guiness Book of World Record consultant, the planting started by 7 p.m. on 15th and ended by 5p.m. on Sunday setting the new record.
On Sunday, Amit Shah declared in a gathering that ‘earlier Indore was just known for its cleanliness, food and education but from today it will be known for its greenery as well. indicating the government’s plan of action’. Further Shah also mentioned how environment protection is a priority for ruling government. He declared that the 55 Prime Minister colleges of excellence will be inaugurated by him on Sunday.
Along with plants such as neem, banyan and peepal, medicinal plants like amla, guava and sitaphal were planted in Indore.
During the process, the CRPF personnels did an amazing job by planting around 5 crore saplings. They were appreciated by Amit Shah. More that 40.000 citizens and 40 NRIs participated in the plantation drive.
‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in Madhya Pradesh
This unique initiative was taken under the ongoing campaign if ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ started on 5th of June 2024. It was started to commemorate the Environment Day and this plantation drive was a tribute to the mother nature. In the campaign, the young mayor of Indore has also participated. Under this campaign, 140 crores of trees are set to be planted including 5.5 crore in Madhya Pradesh and 51 lakhs in Indore itself.
Shah has stated that the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ is the perfect reply to the changing needs of the environment as the carbon di oxide and monoxide have reduced the ozone layer in atmosphere. Madhya Pradesh has been called the ‘lungs of India’.
Prime Minister Modi has congratulated Mr. Yadav and citizens of Bhopal for this outstanding initiative. “This will serve as a model to the whole country and encourage more people to think for mother nature and make it even more beautiful”- Modi says in his tweet. Mohan Yadav stated his confidence in the campaign led by Prime Minister has says that it will honor not only environment but mothers as well.
A total of 31 percent area in MP is forest and the state contributes to 12 percent of the total forest cover in country making it a perfect state for the chosen campaign. The state incorporated 6 tiger reserves, 11 national parks and 26 sanctuaries while cheetahs have been brought in Kuno sanctuary by Prime Minister Modi.
Several other initiatives have been organized by Modi and Union minister Amit Shah towards environment like ‘One Earth, One Family and One Future’. Prime Minister has been awarded the ‘champions of Earth’ award by UN for the same.
Future Endeavors of Government
Prime Minister has further proposed the ‘Green credit’ programme under which 20 percent ethnol will be mixed in petrol and diesel. This will benefit the nation and by 2025 the scheme would by fully implemented and for the same 25 refineries have already been set up to convert biomass into biofuel.
A budget of 20 thousand crores has been allotted under the initiative of ‘Green Hydrogen Mission’.
