Maharashtra Crime: 12 Year Old Tribal Girl Raped And Murdered In Gondia

A 12-year-old tribal girl was brutally killed in the Maoist Belt of Gondia, a city ​​and municipal council in the Indian state of Maharashtra that serves as the headquarters of the administrative district of the same name. Her half-naked, decomposing dead body was discovered in the village of Ganutola

Naxalite-Maoist insurgency is a continuous conflict between Maoist groups, also called Naxalites or Naxals, and the Indian government. The Naxalites operate mainly in the states of Jharkhand (14 districts affected), Bihar (10), Odisha (5), Chhattisgarh (10), Madhya Pradesh (8), West Bengal (8), Maharashtra (2) and Andhra Pradesh.

On April 19, the girl had vanished from sight. Horrifying information has surfaced during the investigation. A commotion has been promised by the upset locals, and the accused is currently on the loose. 

Tuesday and Wednesday saw a protest outside the Deori sub-divisional magistrate’s office by certain tribal organizations, who threatened to escalate the commotion if the offender was not taken into custody as soon as possible.

Because the crime occurred in the politically sensitive Maoist belt of Gondia, the police are also extremely cautious in this case. Due to fear and apprehension of Naxal people, bureaucrats and government officials are suspicious of their duties. Naxals have a list of potential targets, including police officers and law enforcement officials.

The girl had abrasions on her neck and bruises on her head, according to the police. At the scene of the crime, a boulder—a large stone—was discovered with bloodstains on it as well.

The Girl Had Left To Attend A Wedding

On April 19, the girl, a sixth-grader, went with her parents to a relative’s wedding in Gotanpar village, Deori tehsil. From there she was abducted by an unknown person, a police official informed the media. 

After her parents failed to trace the girl on their own, a police search was launched. The decomposed body of the victim was found in Dhawalkhed forest near Gotanpar village on April 20. After being informed, a crew from the Chichgarh police station arrived at the scene and opened a case in accordance with the applicable laws.

According to the report, the villagers also saw the girl cycling with a boy. Despite the report, the villagers were unable to identify the man on the bike. Further investigation is still ongoing.

As no arrest was made five days after the incident, members of some local tribal organizations staged a protest on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Magistrate. They demanded speedy arrest and death penalty to the culprit.

Following the event, Inspector of Police Nikhil Pingale and other police officials paid a visit to the victim’s family. Pingale said he is investigating the case from different angles and the culprit will be caught soon.

The family and local communities are relying on the investigation of the police who are hoping to find the criminal within a few weeks and provide justice to the victim against a heinous crime like this one.
