In an exclusive interview to Pinkvilla, actor Manoj Bajpayee of Bollywood recalled an incident from 1998 when Salman Khan showed a great deal of generosity. Accepting the Best Supporting Actor Award for “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” at an award ceremony that year, Salman Khan publicly pointed out that Manoj Bajpayee was the one who deserved the award more for his excellent performance in “Satya.” Bajpayee praised Salman Khan’s actions calling them very generous. He mentioned that such acts were rare in show business and applauded Salman Khan for being compassionate.

Manoj Bajpayee – SRK is The Villian of Veer Zaara

Speaking about his role in cult film ‘Veer Zaara’, Bajpayee explains himself as well as how people perceive him. Despite playing a character seen by many as obstructive to the main love story line, he challenged viewers to consider other perspectives. The actor emphasized on the multifaceted nature of his character’s motivations and actions, encouraging audiences to move beyond simplistic hero-villain classification. He says – ‘For me, Shah Rukh Khan is the villain’, and explains Veer Zaara from Raza’s perspective.

100th Film Milestone

Manoj also mentioned that South Indian cinema has succeeded because of its cultural wealth. He admitted that South Indian movies are popular and said they do well due to their rooted storytelling as well as authentic representation of local culture. He however noted that Bollywood needs to go back to its roots, drawing inspiration from its counterparts in South India so as to reconnect with an audience looking for more than just surface level entertainment value in a given narrative.
