Manu Bhaker who recently won a bronze medal for India and made us proud has won another medal for our country in Mixed 10m Air Pistol event with her partner Sarabjot Singh.

The Bronze Gain

Manu Bhaker and Sarbjot Singh have made headlines by winning a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This achievement, secured at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre, marks India’s second medal in shooting at these Games, following Bhaker’s earlier bronze in women’s 10m air pistol event.

The Indian duo triumphed over South Korea’s Wonho Lee ad Jin Ye Oh with a score of 16-10 in the bronze medal match. They initially led 8-2 after the fifth series, maintaining composure despite a late challenge from the South Korean team, who narrowed the gap to 10-6 before ultimately falling short.

For, Sarabjot, this bronze medal represents his first Olympic medal, adding to his accolades as a rising star in Indian shooting. He has previously won medals at junior and Asian championships, showcasing his potential on the international stage.

First Medal for India

Manu Bhaker has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win two Olympics medals in a single edition of the games. She won a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m air pistol event and followers it up with another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh.

Bhaker’s first medal came in the individual 10m air pistol final, where she scored 221.7 points to finish third on the podium. This was a significant achievement as she became the first India woman shooter to win an Olympic medal.

The 22-year-old shooter from Haryana has been a rising star in Indian shooting, having won multiple medals at the ISSF World Cup and Commonwealth Games. Her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020 ended in disappointment due to a malfunctioning pistol, making her bronze medal at Paris 2024 even more special.

Bhaker’s historic double medal-winning feat puts her in elite company, as she becomes the first Indian athlete since Norman Pritchard in 1900 to achieve this milestone. Her achievement has been widely celebrated across India, with numerous celebrities and sports personalities congratulating her on social media.
