Mario Lopez, known for his acting and television hosting roles, will be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as reported by Variety. Lopez will be honored by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on October 10, according to Variety.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame’s official website states that Lopez will receive his star in the television category, with Ellen K, Walk of Famer and iHeart Media personality, as the emcee. Actor Mark Wahlberg, Elvis Lopez, and NBCUniversal Local Chairman, Valari Staab will also be in attendance.
Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, emphasised the significance of this recognition, stating, “Mario Lopez’s star on the Walk of Fame is a well-deserved tribute to his impressive career as a television personality. Many of us watched Mario grow up on the television screen, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is excited to honour him on his birthday! This award is definitely the cherry on top.”
Teen Idol to TV Icon
Lopez’s breakthrough came with his role of A.C. Slater on “Saved by the Bell,” which made him a 90s pop culture icon. In recent years, he reprised the role and produced two seasons of the reboot on Peacock, introducing the show to a new generation of viewers.
Lopez’s career goes far beyond Bayside High, with roles in critically acclaimed shows like “This is Us”and “Jane the Virgin.” He’s also made comedic appearances on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “The Rookie,” and voiced Cruz in Disney’s “Elena of Avatar,” working alongside his daughter Gia.
Mario Lopez: Diverse Roles in Entertainment
Lopez co-created and served as executive producer for the Netflix series “The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia,” a Latinx family comedy about a 15-year-old robotics engineer and her family. In addition, he will star in and produce “Once Upon a Christmas Wish,” a holiday movie alongside his wife Courtney and son Dominic. Additionally, Lopez has produced and starred in lifetime Christmas films like “Holiday in Santa Fe” and “FelizNaviDad.”
