On 28 September 2023, Michael Gambon’s family shared the news of his passing away after a long battle with pneumonia. Undoubtedly, all of Sir Gambon’s fans, supporters, and people who loved him were heartbroken by the news.
He was an incredible actor and an even more wonderful human being to be around. He gave a strong and incredible performance as Albus Dumbledore in 6 out of 8 parts of Harry Potter. He was also magnificent in many other movies like Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Wings of the Dove, The Casual Vacancy, and many more.
He spent his last moments in the hospital in the presence of his wife, Anne, and son, Fergus.

Daniel Radcliff – (Played the role of Harry Potter) wrote about Michael Gambon, “one of the most brilliant, effortless actors I’ve ever had the privilege of working with.”
In a recent interview with Variety, Daniel shared, “With the loss of Michael Gambon the world just became considerably less fun.”
Daniel describes Michael as one of the most brilliant and effortless actors that he’s had the opportunity to work with. Michael was known to be someone who loved doing what he did and Daniel said that that is just what will remind him of Michael the most.
As serious as his role was in Harry Potter, according to his co-stars, his personality was more cheerful.
Michael Gambon was silly and hilarious. He usually took things lightly that were given too much importance or were over-rated. He was excellent at what he did and loved his job thoroughly. But he was never the one to be defined by what he did. He knew how to maintain a line of difference between himself and the characters her portrayed.
Daniel also shared how Michael was skilled at giving unserious and blurry answers in interviews, confusing the fact and fiction for journalists which made him a very entertaining person to be around.

The ‘Hermione’ actress took to Instagram and talked about the outstanding man Sir Gambon was. She shares her astonishment at how Michael delivered the serious performances despite being the silly and jolly person he was.
“Thank you for showing us what it looks like to wear greatness lightly. We will miss you. xx” she said as she expressed her gratitude.
Rupert Grint (who played Ron Weasley) shared condolences with his family saying:
“So sad to hear about Michael.” All the co-stars and peers of Michael shared how light-hearted he was and that made everyone comfortable around him.
Michael Gambon was a role model to Rupert as he learned how to find joy and happiness in life from him. Rupert was captivated by Michael’s personality and how he found eccentricities in life.
Jason Isaacs (who played Lucius Malfoy) took to X to say about Michael Gambon:
“Magnificent Michael Gambon has died,” he spoke about how he was more excited to be in the film alongside Michael. He also loved how Michael shared his “fearless and filthy sense of fun” with him.
Jason said that he was more thrilled to know that Michael knew who he was.

The famous author took to X to speak about Michael Gambon where she spoke about when she first saw Michael in King Lear in the year 1982.
Rowling expressed her honor to have Michael Gambon work on something that she wrote.
“Michael was a wonderful man in additional to being an outstanding actor, and I absolutely loved working with him, not only on Potter but also The Casual Vacancy.”
She sent her condolences to Michael’s family and all those who loved him in this rough time.
Michael Gambon – Farewell to the Legend
Michael Gambon’s acting journey began six decades ago when he became one of the original members of The Royal National Theatre. He had done all theatre, plays, and television gaining expertise and adoration from peers and audience alike.
Impressively, he took the role of Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter after the demise of the former ‘Dumbledore’ actor, Richard Harris in 2002. His incredible stance and underlying seriousness brought depth to the character of Dumbledore which we all adored.
Michael Gambon has received several awards including three Oliver awards for his exceptional take on acting and outstanding performances. He has now left a legacy that will continue to inspire fellow actors and remind us of the person that he was.
