Military Operations: 100 Israeli Jets And 320 Hezbollah Rockets

In a recent development, the Lebanon-based militant group Hezbollah and Israel have both declared that they are undertaking significant military operations targeting each other.

The Israeli military launched a pre-emptive strike on Sunday, targeting numerous terror targets in Lebanon using around 100 fighter jets. This aggressive move was in response to intelligence indicating that the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah was preparing for a significant attack. In response, Hezbollah unleashed over 320 Katyusha rockets from Lebanon claiming to have hit 11 military targets directed towards Israeli territory.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the barrage of missiles and explosive-laden drones, stating that the strike was in retaliation for the killing of its military commander, Fuad Shukr in Beirut. The group characterized this as just the beginning of its reaction to the assassination of senior commander. They cautioned that their complete retribution would be carried out gradually over a period of time.

Israel Military Action

In light of the rapidly intensifying circumstances, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urgently convened an emergency cabinet meeting.

Netanyahu said “We are determined to do everything to protect our country, return the residents of the north safely to their homes and continue to follow a simple rule: Whoever harms us we harm them.”

Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has officially announced a state of emergency across the entire country for the upcoming 48 hours, reported by Netanyahu’s office. He stated “We have conducted precise strikes in Lebanon in order to thwart an imminent threat against the citizens of Israel. We are closely following developments in Beirut, and we are determined to use all the means at our disposal in order to defend our citizens.”

Amidst escalating tensions, the Israeli military took proactive measures by launching pre-emptive strikes on targets in Lebanon. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) revealed that these strikes were initiated in response to intelligence indicating significant preparations by Hezbollah for large-scale attacks on Israeli territory. To counter this imminent threat, Israeli Air Force fighter jets were swiftly deployed to neutralize Hezbollah positions posing an immediate danger to Israeli civilians.

Israel’s military action specifically targeted thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers in southern Lebanon, which were pointed at northern and central Israel. An official statement from the Israeli military highlighted the significant impact of the operation, with approximately 100 IAF fighter jets executing precision strikes to destroy the numerous Hezbollah rocket launcher barrels concealed in southern Lebanon. The statement emphasized that the majority of these launchers were aimed at northern Israel, indicating a credible and substantial threat to civilian safety.

Biden closely Monitoring

Amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, Sean Savett, the spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, has informed the public that President Joe Biden is “closely monitoring events in Israel and Lebanon.

“He said “”He has been engaged with his national security team throughout the evening. At his direction, senior US officials have been communicating continuously with their Israeli counterparts. We will keep supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, and we will keep working for regional stability.”

Following the Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) initiation of preemptive strikes, Defense Minister Gallant engaged in a discussion with his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin.

Gallant said “We have conducted precise strikes in Lebanon in order to thwart an imminent threat against the citizens of Israel. We are closely following developments in Beirut, and we are determined to use all the means at our disposal in order to defend our citizens.”
