Minibus strikes vehicle on Samruddhi Mahamarg, killing 12 and injuring 23

Seven laborers were killed when a truck rammed into a vehicle in Raj, and seven persons were killed when a car and a truck collided in Tennessee. The minibus they were riding in collided with a stopped vehicle on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi highway close to the Jambar-Gaon toll plaza in the Vaijapur tehsil of the district between 12.30am and lam on Sunday, injuring spot and 23 other passengers.

After the tragedy on July 1 that claimed the lives of 26 Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s (rural) SP, this was the second significant accident. According to Maneesh Kalwaniya, “two officers of the RTO department stopped this truck on Samruddhi highway based on the findings of the day-long investigation and the statements of all those related to this accident.”

because of this, the minibus ultimately hit it. The truck driver and the two RTO employees have been charged under IPC sections 304(2), 308, 337, 338, and 427 after FIRS were filed against them.

Samruddhi Mahamarg Boon or Bane

Samrudhi Mahahamarg has a rising number of accidents on a daily basis. Traveling is more challenging because of accident fear. 

The Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, often known as the Samruddhi Mahamarg, is a 701-km-long highway that connects Mumbai and Nagpur.

PM Modi opened the first phase, which connects Nagpur to the pilgrimage center of Shirdi, in December 2022. It travels 520 kilometers. On May 26, the 80-kilometer second phase of the Samruddhi Mahamarg stretch from Bharvir village in the Igatpuri taluka to Shirdi was officially opened by the chief minister and the deputy chief minister.

Since the highway began to operate, many accidents have been reported.

MSRDC chose to split the design work into 5 packages in order to speed up the pre-construction work on the expressway. A different consultant company was recruited to create the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for each package. A special purpose vehicle (SPV) called “Nagpur Mumbai Super Communication Expressway Limited” was established by the Maharashtra government on May 31, 2017, to handle the project’s funding requirements.

Afcons Infrastructure, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Reliance Infrastructure are just a few of the 13 different contractors who were given the job of building the 701 km long Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway.

Villagers rush to aid accident victims on the Samruddhi e-way

Second significant incident there in three months.  In a little more than three months, this road has had two significant accidents. In the aftermath of its collision with a pole and the median in the bus high-speed route on July 1 and started burning. As the bus caught fire, 26 people were burned to death.

Villagers from neighboring towns hurried to the scene of the tragedy on Sunday to help the police move the injured to the hospital and rescue the victims. Six of the injured are receiving care at the Vaijapur Sub-District Hospital, according to Kavthale. Government Medical College and Hospital, Aurangabad, has been recommended for the remaining 17, which also includes the minibus driver. Aside from the six-year-old kid, there are five males and six women among the deceived.

Nearly 300 meters from the scene of the collision, our crew had stopped a goods carrier after noticing that the cleaner was operating it instead of the driver and that it was traveling in a zigzag pattern. When our crew heard a loud boom and realized the minibus had struck a truck, they were issuing a summons to the goods carrier. According to Kathole, they would provide the state government its final assessment in only 24 hours.

PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu both conveyed their sorrow. The next of kin of each deceased person will get Rs. 2 lakhs as ex-gratia, and each injured person would receive Rs. 50 000. Exgratia of Rs. 5 lakhs will be given to each deceased person’s next of kin, and CM Eknath Shinde also ordered an investigation.

Samruddhi Mahamarg Accidents in Nine months

The victims, according to the police, were traveling from Buldhana Sailani Baba Dargah to Nashik when their minibus struck a container truck early in the morning. The event wounded about 23 persons.

Since December 2022, there have been 1,282 incidents on the highway, 67 of which have involved 67 automobiles and resulted in 135 fatalities.

37 of these fatalities were due to two significant accidents. According to Anil Gaikwad, MD of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), in one accident, a private AC sleeper bus caught fire after the intoxicated driver lost control in July, while on October 15, 12 people were killed and 23 others were injured.

A 600-km stretch from Nagpur to Bharvir in Igatpuri has seen approximately 48 million cars travel it in the nine months since Samruddhi Mahamarg opened to traffic. The overall length of the roadway is 701 kilometers.
