“Mission Raniganj” Day 3 Collection : Akshay kumar starrer Shows Little Growth

“Mission Raniganj” featuring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra hit the theaters last week on Friday. The movie is based on a truly inspiring story. The film didn’t have a big opening on its first day and showed little growth afterwards. On the 3rd day the film earned Rs. 4.50 crores which adds to the total box office collection. 

Total Box Office Collection

The Movie hit the screens on 6th October 2023. On the first day of its release, the movie didn’t get a warm response and collected Rs. 2.50 crores. On the second day the film collected Rs. 4.50 crores which showed a little growth. On the third day, the collection was Rs. 4.85 crores, taking the total box collection standing at Rs. 12.15 crores.

The movie’s box office collection escalated to some extent however, it wasn’t a grand opening for the actor Akshay kumar. His previously released OMG 2, released in august 2023, received good response from audience as well as at the box office.

Mission Raniganj : The Great Bharat Rescue

Mission Raniganj is a hindi – language rescue thriller film. The movie is based on the Raniganj Coalfields collapse that happened in 1989 in West Bengal. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film presents the disaster that took place in Raniganj Coalfields. The movie was announced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani and Deepshikha Deshmukh and the shooting is primarily done in the United Kingdom and some scenes were shot in IIT Dhanbad Campus.

The movie is inspired and based on Jaswant Singh Gill, a courageous and diligent mining engineer from IIT Dhanbad who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Jaswant Singh Gill on the screen and Parineeti chopra is casted opposite him.

The movie was initially titled as “Capsule Gill”, and afterwards changed to “The Great Indian Rescue”. The poster was released in September 2023 and the movie’s title was changed to “Mission Raniganj : The Great Bharat Rescue”.

The cast also includes actors – Gaurav Prateek, Virendra Saxena as Tapan Ghosh, Saanand Verma, Shishir Sharma, Ananth Mahadevan as PM Natarajan, Arif Zakaria, Jameel Khan, Sudhir Pandey and Mukesh Bhatt.

Plot

As the movie is based on brave Jaswant Singh Gill, who rescued 65 trapped miners. Akshay Kumar plays the lead role as Jaswant Singh Gill.  The movie depicts the survival story of 65 trapped miners who were rescued by Jaswant Gill.

The Raniganj coalfield collapse took place on 13 November 1989, when the miners blasted the coal walls. The blast affected the site area, shaking the walls and mine structure. The cracks unfortunately made water flood in which resulted in the demise of six workers, those who were near the elevator were pulled up and other 65 miners were trapped. When everyone lost hope, courageous Jaswant Singh Gill saved the lives of those 65 workers with his smartness and bravery. The movie loosely depicts how the events took place and the rescue of workers.

Movie Review

The performance and story is praised by the audience, Akshay Kumar’s role is appreciated along with Parineeti Chopra and others. However, the movie lacks monetary growth. Speaking on this, Akshay Kumar said not to put pressure on the film and,he can do movies that will do good collection but movies like this which brings change in society makes him happy.

The Times of India has given 2.5 out of 5 and 1.5 out 5 by NDTV.
