The Prime Minister thanked the team for their unwavering commitment in his closing remarks. In addition, he expressed a wish for continuous assistance and communication to promote togetherness off the cricket ground. His remarks, which emphasised the value of cooperation and support from one another on the same path, were intended to deepen the relationship between the governing body and the cricket team.

BJP leaders’ reactions to PM Modi’s consoling

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a great deal of praise from Union ministers and leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his gesture of comforting Cricket Team India players in their dressing room after their defeat to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup finals on Sunday.

The exchange in which Modi praised the Indian men’s cricket team for their incredible accomplishment of winning the competition ten times in a row was captured on a tape that Union ministers made public.

After their heartbreaking six-wicket loss to Australia, the Prime Minister is seen interacting with important players in the video, including captain Rohit Sharma and ace batsman Virat Kohli.

On social media, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya showed his appreciation by writing, “This is what leadership is all about. defending the group when things go tough. The team, which had recently lost the championship game after dominating each of the matches leading up to it, must have found solace and confidence in the warmth and assurance.

Prime Minister Modi has a wealth of knowledge to impart. This remark underscores the leadership characteristics exhibited by the Prime Minister and shows the relevance of Modi’s supportive role during a difficult time for the cricket team.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasised the part Prime Minister Modi had in improving the cricket team’s spirits, pointing out that Modi gave the players support and complimented them on their excellent performance during the ICC Cricket World Cup.

The footage of the Prime Minister’s meeting with the team was also posted by Union Minister Piyush Goyal, who emphasised that the players have the support of the entire country in both wins and losses.

Not only did Prime Minister Modi engage with the important players, but he also had conversations with the coach, Rahul Dravid, and other squad members. In an effort to promote unity among the team off the cricket pitch, Modi invited the players to meet him anytime they were in Delhi.

Criticism by the opposite political leaders

A number of opposition figures have expressed disapproval of Prime Minister Modi’s “pep talk” to the Indian cricket players, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi.

Chaturvedi shared her concerns in a post on X, claiming that the cricket players seemed uncomfortable dealing with the loss and the Prime Minister’s team’s cameras entering the dressing room to record the ‘pep talk.’

“The Indian cricketers obviously look awkward, having to wrestle with the loss and then having cameras pressed on them entering the dressing room for PM’s team to capture their ‘pep talk,'” she said, emphasising the agony the players were going through. Yes, feel free to troll this tweet as often as you like.

The criticism directed towards the opposition leaders indicates a difference of opinion on when and how these kinds of meetings should take place, particularly after the Indian cricket team suffered a big loss. Concerns regarding Prime Minister Modi’s entrance to the changing room were raised by the opposition leaders’ comments.

Speaking about Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with the players, Trinamool Congress (TMC) politician and former cricket player Kirti Azad stressed the importance of the team’s internal sanctum. According to Azad, the ICC usually only allows players and support personnel access to the dressing room because it is seen as an important and confidential area. Azad hinted that the Prime Minister’s conversation with the players in the dressing room might have broken custom and been interpreted as an invasion of privacy by voicing his opinion.

This dispute highlights the fine line that must be drawn, particularly in the wake of a big loss, between supporting the team and honouring the private areas that are essential to the athletic atmosphere.

Based on what he experienced as a cricket player and member of the Indian World Cup squad in 1983, Azad highlighted the importance of the dressing room as the innermost space for any team. He emphasised that only players along with support personnel are normally permitted in these places per ICC standards.

In order to respect the players’ space and privacy, Azad recommended that the Prime Minister meet the team in a secure visitors’ area rather than the dressing room.

PM Modi’s tweet after match

Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent Team India a sincere message of encouragement on Twitter following the ICC Cricket World Cup final. In his tweet, he commended the team for playing with tremendous spirit and giving great pride to the country, praising their remarkable talent and perseverance during the World Cup. With unshakable support, Prime Minister Modi said, “We stand with you today and always.”

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated Team Australia on their incredible World Cup triumph in a show of sportsmanship. He praised Australia’s outstanding victory in the championship match and acknowledged their impressive performance throughout the competition. In particular, the prime minister praised Travis Head for his outstanding performance in the championship game.

Australia’s victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup was a momentous occasion, as it confirmed their supremacy in the renowned competition that has been a cricketing institution since 1975 and gave them a record-extending sixth trophy. The Prime Minister’s remarks expressed gratitude for India’s endeavours as well as a kind recognition of Australia’s triumphs in the game of cricket.

India was dismissed after 50 overs with a score of 240. On a challenging batting surface, the top-order batsmen—including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul—played significant innings.

A solid foundation was laid by Rohit Sharma’s blazing 47 runs in 31 balls, which included four boundaries and three sixes. Rahul’s tenacious 66 runs in 107 balls with one four and Kohli’s cool-headed 54 runs in 63 balls with four boundaries were crucial contributions.

Mitchell Starc spearheaded Australia’s bowling attack, which was successful. Crucial breakthroughs for his team were made by Starc, who took three wickets for 55 runs. In addition, Pat Cummins (2/34) and Josh Hazlewood (2/60) contributed significantly, while Adam Zampa and Glenn Maxwell each claimed a wicket.

With Australia at 47/3, India was able to put them in a difficult situation as they started their defence. But then Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head mounted an incredible comeback that changed the tide.

Australia won by six wickets thanks to an outstanding innings from Head of 137 runs in 120 balls, which included 15 fours and four sixes. Labuschagne also contributed 58 runs in 110 balls with four boundaries.

Australia’s relentless batting display proved to be too strong in the end, even if India was initially successful in applying pressure throughout the chase. India’s extraordinary tournament run, which had seen them win ten straight matches before the championship match, came to an abrupt end with the loss in the ICC Cricket World Cup final.

Conclusion

Following their dominating performance in the league matches, the Indian cricket team was expected to win the World Cup. However, they were shocked to lose to Australia, captained by Pat Cummins, by six wickets in the final.

The Indian men’s cricket team won the ICC Cricket World Cup, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed his support as well his gratitude for them after the match. He praised the group for their incredible accomplishment of winning 10 straight games to reach the championship.

Prime Minister Modi praised the Indian Cricket Team for its exceptional performance and their remarkable run in the competition, regardless of the result of the championship game.

His compliments were a token of appreciation for the team’s hard work and accomplishments, boosting the team’s national spirit and sense of success during the World Cup campaign.

Generating a sense of solidarity and support among the people, the Prime Minister’s gesture highlights the team’s commitment and hard work. The phrase “today and forever” means that the team will stand by the players not just in the moments following the conclusion of the World Cup but also in all of their future cricketing pursuits.

India’s spectacular run came to an abrupt end when they lost to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup final. Even with noteworthy efforts from K L Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, India managed a below-average total of 240 runs.

Australia’s victory was credited to their bowling and fielding as much as their hitting. Australia was further favoured on the slow pace and dry surface by the evening dew. With their most recent world championship in 2011 and Champions Trophy victory in 2013, India lost yet another chance to win an ICC trophy with this loss.

The team’s continuous presence but absence of big tournament successes is highlighted by the World Cup final defeat, which adds to a string of close calls in ICC competitions over the previous ten years.
