Israel saw the procession of tens of thousands of people in the country roads rally protesting because of the hostage situation. The national outrage occurred when Hamas took hold of the body of 6 hostages in the Gaza Strip that was recovered by the Israeli soldiers.

The Protest in Israel

The Israeli people or the protester voiced their protests, many of them donning the Israeli flags. They all walked down and accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government of not being enough to reach out for a settlement that could secure the discharge of other Israeli citizens who were held hostage under Hamas confinement during the October 7 attack. The protests occurred in various cities of Israel like in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and other cities.

Cities

The protest for the hostage was mostly peacefully executed on Sunday, however, reports of the large crowd of people breaking their way through police lines as well as blocking the busy highway in Tel Aviv.

The Labour Union

Histadrut, a very powerful labour union, supported the protest and also called for a general strike reaching for the whole country, on Monday more encouraging the hostage situation.

The Israel Defence Forces

Bodies of six people were discovered by the soldiers on Saturday, the bodies were located in an underground tunnel in Southern Gaza, around the Rafah area, according to Israel Defence Forces

The hostages were Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi and Master Sgt Ori Danino as identified by the authorities.

This is the primary reason for triggering the protests, with the group of tens of thousands of people voicing their concerns and accusing the government of this situation. And hugely the Prime Minister for failing to save and ensure the security of his country’s people, on Sunday.

In the city of Tel Aviv, the protesters became more violent than others as they broke through the police confinement on the Ayalon Highway on Sunday.

Some of them, scaled the buses and dustbins to gain momentum and create focus on their outrage. People surrounded these protesters in their support. Some were wearing masks of Mr Netanyahu continuously focusing on the voice shouting –  “Alive, alive, we want them alive.”

The Hostages Families Forum

According to the Hostages Families Forum, the six people who were captivated by the Hamas authority were murdered not very long just a few days ago. They have survived almost 11 months of continuous abuse, and torture, and faced harassment and starvation in their confinement. The people are anxious that the more this deal signing gets delayed the more people will die from the country’s abandonment.

Still, the exact number of people captivated by Gaza is not clear. Hamas lastly kidnapped almost 251 people and took the lives of 1200 other citizens when they attacked the land of Southern Israel, on 7 October 2023.
