After three years of explosive growth — we’re talking 10 feature films, 12 seasons of TV, and two specials, which is over 300% more than what we got during the Infinity Saga — Marvel Studios seems to be slowing down a bit in the Multiverse Saga. In 2024, we’ve only seen two Disney+ shows (Echo and X-Men’97) and one feature film (Deadpool & Wolverine) join the MCU so far.
But don’t worry, there’s still a lot in the pipeline. From Captain America with Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford to Thunderbolts featuring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, and even The Fantastic Four with Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby. And finally, Avengers: Doom Day, which marks the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming — at least, what we know about so far
Agatha All Along (Sept. 18)
Agatha all along is a ‘WandaVision’ spinoff. It’s the story of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) who was last seen in ‘WandaVision’ as Agnes – the nosy neighbour- trapped by Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) in a sitcom. Jac Schaeffer, head writer of “WandaVision” will write and produce the show, the show will be a dark comedy. Another spinoff based on “WandaVision” about Vision (Paul Bettany) is also in works.
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man (2024)
Unlike the sleek, modern style of “What If…?”, this animated show will take Peter Parker back to his comic book roots as he starts his journey to become Spider-Man.
Various new characters like Nico Minoru from the Runaways, a new crush, Amadeus Cho (who becomes a Hulk in the comics), a Wakandan exchange student, and Harry Osborn, with his father Norman (voiced by Colman Domingo) initially mentoring Peter will be introduced in this version of Peter’s life.
Charlie Cox voices Daredevil, and Doctor Strange will also make an appearance (though it’s unclear if Benedict Cumberbatch will voice him). Classic Spidey villains like Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, Rhino, Butane, and Doc Ock will also show up.
While it was initially thought to be a prequel to Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man, the appearance of Harry and Norman Osborn revealed at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 suggests otherwise. So, multiverse it is!
Captain America: Brave New World (Feb. 14, 2025)
In the new Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), fights alone without the Avengers, who disbanded in “Endgame.” Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley (first black supersoldier) will be returning from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He was the one who told Sam that the U.S. would never accept a Black Captain America, Danny Ramirez will also be reprising his role as Joaquín Torres (the new Falcon). Shira Haas is joining the cast as Ruth Bat-Seraph (Sabra).
Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, Disney postponed the film from a May 2024 release to Feb. 2025.
Daredevil: Born Again (March 2025)
After Daredevil wrapped up its three-season run on Netflix in 2018, Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) quietly disappeared when the Netflix ended its partnership with Marvel, paving the way for Disney+. However, Murdock made a surprising comeback as Peter Parker’s lawyer in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, and his arch-nemesis, Kingpin (portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio), also resurfaced as the main antagonist in Hawkeye that same month. These appearances fuelled fans’ excitement for the Man Without Fear to return to his crime-fighting ways.
Thunderbolts (May 2, 2025)
Marvel Studios’ response to DC’s Suicide Squad is the Thunderbolts, a team of anti-heroes—or reformed villains, depending on how you see them—who start off doing bad things but try to make up for their past mistakes. Written by Eric Pearson and directed by Jake Schreier, the team features Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) , Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) , Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
Originally set for a late 2024 release, the SAG-AFTRA strike delayed Thunderbolts to 2025. At CinemaCon 2024, Kevin Feige revealed the title’s asterisk but teased that Marvel won’t explain it until after the movie’s release.
The Fantastic 4: First Steps (July 25, 2025)
In November 2023, news broke that Marvel was eyeing Pedro Pascal for the role of Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic. Four months later, they made it official: Pascal, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Julia Garner will play Shalla-Bal, a Silver Surfer variant, with Ralph Ineson as Galactus, the main antagonist. The film is set in an alternate universe, but with the Fantastic Four playing a key role in the “Secret Wars” comics and Victor Von Doom (Robert Downey Junior) being their main enemy, they’re likely to be involved in Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday May 1, 2026)
Just as Avengers: Infinity War paved the way for Avengers: Endgame, Doomsday will set up Secret Wars, with Robert Downey Jr. making his return to the MCU as Dr. Victor von Doom, Marvel’s most significant villain. The same team behind Infinity War and Endgame — directors Joe and Anthony Russo, and screenwriter Stephen McFeely — are back to direct and write Doomsday and Secret Wars. Considering Doom’s main foes are the Fantastic Four, they will likely play a major role in Doomsday.
