Following the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly election, which met up to 59 percent voters, Prime minister Narendra Modi is all ready to address a public rally in Srinagar on Thursday, September 19.
BJP is very passionate about achieving a seat in the regions, as it has not achieved it before. So the rally is part of its campaign, to gather support from the public for its candidates. The BJP has covered candidates in 19 constituencies, which is less than in the last assembly elections held in 2014 and fewer than one- third of the total.
PM Modi posted on X ( initially Twitter) about being among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also wrote about addressing a rally in Srinagar and Katra. He also expressed his eagerness to make the poll process vibrant, as the people of J & K were very enthusiastic about the elections. He also wrote that he’ll speak about the development agenda and sought people’s blessings.

The BJP has stated that the rally will be commenced at Srinagar’s Sher-e-Kashmir Park and it has been expected that the attendance will be around 30,000 party workers and supporters.

As said by the police officials, security forces are being instructed to be highly alert at Srinagar and across Kashmir. Security lapses will be prevented by developing various checkpoints and enhanced patrols.
After the revocation of Article 370, three BJP candidates had won in the DDC elections, one from Srinagar and the other two from Pulwama and Kupwars districts respectively, this gave BJP a hope of reviving its influence in the region.
Voter turnout
Prime Minister Modi commenced a rally in Doda, Jammu region, making it the first visit by a PM to the area in 42 years. The second would be the approaching rally in Srinagar during the existing assembly polls.
On 18th September, there was a voter turnout of around 59 percent, the highest in the past seven elections which was recorded in the first phase of the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, to cast the ballot, over 2.3 million voters were eligible to determine the fate of 219 candidates. While Kishtwar district marked its highest 77 percent turnout, Pulwama district recorded the lowest of 46 percent.
He stated that, there were few of the reports which witnessed some minor incidents of brawl or argument from a few polling stations but it was not a serious incident that would compel a repoll.
A turnout of 69.33 percent was witnessed in Doda, Ramban district had 67.71 percent, Kulgam district 61.57 percent, Anantnag district observed 54.17 percent and Shopian district had 53.64 percent.
During the 2014 assembly elections, the percentage of district wise poll was: Pulwama 44 percent, Shopian 48 percent, Kulgam 59 percent, Kishtwar 76 percent, Doda 73 percent, Ramban 70 percent and Anantnag 60 percent.

Padder- Nagseni segment witnessed the highest 80.67 percent voting in Kishtwar district, followed by Inderwal with 80.06 percent and Kishtwar ( 78.11 percent ).
Nearby Doda district, Doda west segment marked 75.98 percent, Doda had 70.21 percent and Bharderwah had 65.27 percent voters.
In Ramban district, Banihal segment witnessed 71.28 percent and Ramban 67.34 percent, he said.
The polling was initiated across 3,276 Polling Stations in the seven districts and 24 special polling stations established for migrant pandits in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi.
