NASA Administrator Bill Nelson is to travel to India and the UAE in a set of meetings with key government officials.

Nelson will meet the space officials from both countries to strengthen bilateral cooperation. They will discuss a broad range of innovation and research-related areas, especially in human exploration and Earth Science, as per a release by the American Space Agency NASA.

President Joe Biden initiated a massive collaboration on Critical and Emerging Technology. Nelson’s visit to India will fulfill the commitment as a part of this US and India alliance.

In the Indian segment of the union, Nelson will visit several places. It includes the facilities based in Bengaluru, where the NISAR spacecraft is under processing testing. NISAR spacecraft is a joint Earth-observing mission between NASA and its Indian counterpart at the ISRO. After the testing procedure is completed, its integration the launch in 2024.

NASA and ISRO’s Synthetic Aperture Radar is named NISAR. The First Earth – System Observatory.

NISAR is a revolutionary Earth-Observing instrument that would measure Earth’s changing ecosystems, dynamic surfaces, and ice masses.

It will provide information about biomass, natural hazards increasing sea levels, and underwater information.

It will guide the scientists, about the efforts related to climate change, hazard mitigation, and agriculture.

It is the first satellite mission between NASA and ISRO.

Laurie Leshin, Director at the Jet Population Laboratory ( JPL), National Aeronautics and Space Administration ( NASA), recently told in a report that the scientists from both space agencies, ISRO & NASA are working closely on the NISAR mission to help and make sure that they make the most out of the data that will be coming down from the spacecraft.

Earlier this mouth, Leshin told in an interview, We are so excited to be working between NASA and ISRO on NISAR, which is a radar machine to look at the surface of the Earth and how it is changing.

In India, they are interested in understanding how the mangrove environment at the coasts in changing vigorously. In the US, they are fascinated about the ice sheets are changing, why earthquakes and volcanoes are happening all over the world. There are various aspects to understanding our Earth in a broader way.

The two major agencies, NASA and ISRO marks an equal collab for the first time as NISAR. They are cooperating on the hardware development for an Earth-Observing mission.

The Satellite’s cylinderical radar instrument payload contains two radar systems, while the size of an SUV and partially wrapped in gold -covered thermal blanket.

Along with this, Nelson will be participating in 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference to be held in the UAE. It will be the first time NASA administrator will attend the conference.
