NASA has revealed the prime version of its space security practice guide which marks a crucial step in strengthening cybersecurity in public and private space activities, the space security practical guide is a testament to NASA’s dedication to the mission longevity and resilience which serves as the valuable resource for improving the security and reliability of its space missions

 “This guide represents a collective effort which will establish a set of principles that can enable us to identify and alleviate risks and ensure continued success for our both earth’s orbit and beyond” said Misty Finical  the deputy principal advisor for enterprise protection at NASA. The guide is designed to benefit a wide audience which includes international partners and industry professionals. The guide offers security guidance applicable to missions programs or projects which are of any scale.

NASA acknowledged the dual nature of the space systems  as they are increasingly integrating information and operational technologies which paved the way for new opportunities while also introducing their vulnerabilities. The guide also addresses these challenges offering the recommendations for adapting to the evolving threads and by implementing safety measures.
