National Crush Tripti Dimri Faces Backlash: Unveiling the Reasons Behind Criticism

When the audience dislikes the works of privileged Starkids, it sidelines them. But when it comes from audience-loved, self-made actors, it gets disappointing. That’s because they hold some expectations, which now appear to be shattering. A similar thing is happening for Tripti Dimri. The Qala actress is currently facing a lot of backlash. Let’s know why. 

After giving amazing movies like Qala, Bulbul, and Laila Majnu, the audience loved Tripti Drimri and somehow realized the potential her acting skills held. But it all turned 180 degrees after we saw her in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film ‘Animal’. In that film, Tripti’s character Zoya is a spy from the rival’s clan who lures and shares an intimate bond with the lead despite knowing he’s married and tricking him to find out his secrets. This film also demanded certain intimate scenes from Tripti’s character, which made her fans upset. the reason being that the film only had such scenes to drive it towards more controversy.

Tripti’s original fanbase, who recognized her for her initial movies and were expecting more of them, were already disappointed as they knew she had the potential to make people glued to their screens for 3 hours straight without doing any of such scenes. But, ever since the trailer and song from her new movie Bad Newz have been released, it seems like the creators are trying to portray her as eye candy. The plot of the movie revolves around a pregnant girl who has two baby daddies due to a rare medical condition. Which appears to be a bit more controversial and unacceptable for the Indian audience. 

Comments like “being characterless is new fashion…and people will go to see it…hats off” and “So portraying a girl characterless is fashion these days, where are we heading towards” can be seen over social media.

Now the problem isn’t that this will end Tripti Dimri’s career, but because of such movies, fans now might not perceive her as a mainstream actress. One of the reasons could be that society will never accept an actress doing such a role, and second, people had really high expectations from Tripti. Recently, a new song ‘Janam’ was released from Tripti’s new movie, which has quite sensual and vulgar scenes in it. Although there are many ways to picture a romantic song, the creators chose it to grab more attention, making Tripti their pawn. 

What Netizens Said over Tripti in Bad Newz?

One person wrote, “Sad to see Tripti Dimri is becoming another Nora Fatehi for the industry, who’ll be used just to fulfill the fetishes of other actors and directors,” and another wrote, “There’s nothing aesthetic about it. Also, the way commercial BW is objectifying Tripti, the same actress who gave Qala and Bulbul, is a double-edged sword. Those performance-oriented roles didn’t get her the recognition, but these roles are.”

Got recognised after becoming Zoya

Which is certainly true. Tripti Dimri once revealed that even after Laila Majnu was released, no one recognized her, and she still continuously struggled for auditions. She recieved that recognisation after Animal but at what price? Coming from a decent family in Uttrakhand, unlike other well-off starkids. If Dharma Production approaches a person like that, promising recognition, we can’t blame her for choosing it. Also, in this case, the self-made actors don’t have the upper hand to maintain certain conditions while working, unlike some Starkids. 

 Now think of it: Laila Majnu, which is now being praised, was not a box office hit. Also, if films like Bulbul and Qala were released in theaters, in which a not-so-known actress was starring, would the audience be excited to go and watch them? 

 In an interview, Tripti talked about how unsupportive her parents were from her initial years and that the scene from the Animal movie made them uncomfortable. Also, Tripti herself revealed that she can’t think of a career other than acting.

What do you think is at fault here? The directors who cast talented actors as sensual to make their movies more controversial, the audience that questions it, and still don’t even bother to go and watch real good, non-controversial movies? Or Tripti Dimri for accepting such roles.
