Start of this incident

Modi revealed that their enmity started in December 2022. She described the events of September 9 as beginning with an argument over the use of the lavatory that turned into a physical attack by Singhania, which left her and their older daughter injured. Singhania stopped the police from entering their house when Modi tried to get them involved. Her treatment at Reliance hospital, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit, and the filing of a non-cognizable complaint were made easier by the intervention of their neighbors, the Ambanis.

The public’s discovery of the couple’s discord first came to light when footage of Modi being turned away from a Diwali celebration of his company. Singhania shared their separation on social media not long after. According to recent reports, Modi was reportedly seeking a separation package that included 75% of Singhania’s net worth.

Modi moved out with their daughters

After the incident, Modi moved out of the house with her two daughters, and she has been living with her parents ever since. Both parties are attempting to reach a settlement during the ongoing legal proceedings. Modi, 53, wants to keep $1.4 billion of Singhania’s wealth for herself and their two daughters. As a result, Singhania has recommended creating a trust to oversee the family’s possessions, of which he will remain the sole trustee for the duration of his life. But Modi finds this proposal intolerable.

Legal advisers are involved in the process

According to legal sources close to Singhania, he plans to take legal action in response to the accusations in order to defend his family’s interests. Singhania issued a statement in which he asked for respect for his privacy, stated that he wished to preserve his family’s honor for the benefit of his two daughters, and he declined to comment further.

The process has involved legal advisors, such as Mumbai-based Rashmi Kant for Modi and Haigreve Khaitan for Singhania. The managing partner of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., Akshay Chudasama, is making an effort to mediate the dispute between the parties.

Modi stressed that her pursuit of securing her daughters’ financial stability is based on her roles as their mother and legal guardian. She recalled Singhania’s prior expressions of worry for their welfare and emphasized her present objective of pursuing a just settlement for her and her kids, suggesting a division that guarantees their financial stability.
