Neeraj Chopra Nominated for the world athlete of the year 2023 award

The Javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra, has been announced as one of the 11 nominees for the prestigious 2023 World Athlete of the Year award. The selection of nominees was done by an international panel of experts representing all six continental areas of World Athletics.

The nominations are done based upon the remarkable achievements of athletes during the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, various one-day meeting circuits,Label road races, and other global events, as stated by the sport’s international governing body.

Selection Process

The final selection for the award will involve a voting process which will be of 3- way. Votes for this will be cast by the World Athletics Council, the World Athletics Family, and the general public.

Success of Neeraj

Neeraj has done exceptionally well this year. He was the first ever Indian to win a Gold medal at the world Athletics Championship held at Budapest this year. He also finished second at Diamond league and then went on to bag Gold Medal at the Asian Games of 2023 held in China.
