A new national record was set in the Asian Games 2023 by breaking the previous record of winning 70 medals in 2018, currently, India stands at 86 medals in total, having 21 golds, 32 silver, and 33 bronze: the Indian Men’s team won gold in the 4x400m relay, on Wednesday, 4th October 2023. The team included Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Rajesh Ramesh, and Muhammad Ajmal, they took a total of 3 minutes and 1.58 seconds to finish the whole relay.
Avinash Sable one of the other athletes performing in the Asian Games 2023 also won a silver medal in the Men’s 5000m race with a marvelous effort of 13 minutes and 21.9 seconds beaten by Birhanu Yemataw Balew of Bahrain, creating the game record of 13 minutes and 25.63 seconds while Gulveer Singh finished fourth by doing his personal best effort of 13:29.93. The relay team finished first ahead of Qatar followed by Sri Lanka.
China is on top having 171 gold medals in total till now followed by Japan (37 gold medals till now) followed by the Republic of Korea (33 gold medals till now) followed by India (21 gold medals till now)followed by Uzbekistan in the Asian Games 2023. At the 19th Asian Games, The Indian men’s bridge team will go against Hong Kong, in the men’s final by beating China in the semifinals.
Women in Asian Games 2023:
On the other hand, the women players also performed very well losing only by 0.2 seconds from the Bahrain quartet in the women’s relay having a total time of 3:27.65, the team earned a silver medal for their amazing performance, and the quartet included Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra, Subha Venkatesan, and Prachi.
Olympic star PV Sindhu with HS Prannoy in women’s badminton singles made it through the quarter-finals, meanwhile in men’s double Chirag Shetty teamed up with Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. Harmilan won a silver medal in the women’s 800m race at Asian Games 2023 by setting a time of 2 minutes and 5.69 seconds. Harmilan along with Prul Chaudhary became on of the two athletes to win two athletic medals on the list of Indians at the 19th Asian Games.
India’s women’s and men’s chess team still stands in second position behind Chain and Iran respectively. India also set a new record by winning 18 gold medals the most gold medals won in a single edition. In Men’s javelin Throw Neeraj Chopra scored 1st position with a throw of 88.88 meters and Kishore Kumar Jena scored 2nd with a throw of 87.54 meters, making it a maiden 1-2 finish for India in Men’s Javelin Throw Asian Games 2023. Saurav Ghosal sealed his 5th consecutive medal in the Asian Games by winning the semi-finals of the men’s squash singles.
