The car of journalist Nikhil Wagle was allegedly damaged on Friday in Pune by BJP workers for allegedly making disparaging statements about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior leader LK Advani.

New Delhi: On Friday, journalist Nikhil Wagle’s car was reportedly damaged in Pune by BJP members who were upset that he had made disparaging statements against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior leader LK Advani.
While heading to speak at the Rashtra Seva Dal-organized “Nirbhay Bano” event in Pune’s Deccan district, he was attacked by unidentified rioters with ink throwing. The incident caused damage to his car’s side windows and windscreen.
“I forgive all those who attacked me,” Mr. Wagle stated in a speech delivered later at the venue. I had been attacked six times before, and this was the seventh.
After the Centre declared that Mr. Advani will get the nation’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, Mr. Wagle was accused of making the disparaging remarks about PM Modi and Mr. Advani on X.
Based on a complaint made by BJP leader Sunil Deodhar, a case was filed in Pune against the 64-year-old journalist. Defamation and inciting animosity between groups have been charged against him.
Opposition’s Strong Response for Nikhil Wagle Case:
After vandals damaged Nikhil Wagle’s car in Maharashtra, the opposition unleashed a vicious onslaught on the ruling BJP.
MP Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar denounced the incident and questioned the BJP about who granted them “permission to riot.”
BJP workers attacked and stoned senior journalist Nikhil Wagle. This ridiculous episode resulted in injuries for a few girls who were walking by on the road. “The police were simply watching while this was going on,” Ms Sule wrote on X.
“Did somebody tell the cops not to intervene on this occasion? Who allowed the BJP to conduct such an openly violent riot? It is a long-standing practice in this nation to refute ideas with ideas. Does the BJP intend to break with tradition and establish itself as a nation of hooligans? She continued, “Strongly condemn this incident.”
Sanjay Raut, a representative of the Shiv Sena (UBT), also claimed that a number of MVA women employees had been “beaten up by BJP goons.” The Nationalist Congress Party, led by Sharadchandra Pawar, and Mr. Raut’s party have joined forces to form the MVA.
“Several MVA women karyakartas beaten up by BJP goons, eggs, stones, bricks hurled at them, Pune police remain spectators. Senior journalist Nikhil Wagle’s car smashed, ink, and eggs thrown at his car… Brazen bid to murder democracy by BJP in Pune… MVA will not be deterred,” he wrote on X.
Police Will Act, Says Devendra Fadnavis Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister, declared that the police will deal with anyone who breaks the law, regardless of whether they are a BJP employee.
Yet he added that disparaging comments about the senior leader were inappropriate.
